Oxford Properties Canadian Open Heads to Bow Valley Square, Calgary, Alberta April 11th – 15th, 2022

Canadian Women will be the focal point as the All-Glass Exhibition “Power Court” lands in downtown Calgary, April 11th – 15th at the beautiful Bow Valley Square for the 2021-22 Canadian Open, a Professional Squash Association Women 30k and Men 10k Tour Event.

With thanks to title sponsor Oxford Properties and the relaunched Bow Valley Athletic Club, the glass court will be erected in the atrium of one of downtown Calgary’s most active office tower complexes. The event will continue the newly dedicated Power Court’s cross-country tour designed to bring our sport to the public and drive growth from grassroots to high performance squash and everything in between.

Headlining the draws will be Canadian Stars Danielle Letourneau of Calgary, AB and Hollie Naughton of Oakville, ON. For the first time in Canadian history both players occupy spots in the Women’s World Top 20.  For Letourneau, the event will be particularly special.  “I’m thrilled to play in the Canadian Open in my hometown of Calgary and see our sport profiled at the Bow Valley Square.  It will be exciting to see new fans exposed to the game, local juniors inspired and to compete in front of family, friends and the Alberta squash community.”

The event could not be possible without the tremendous support of platinum corporate partner Oxford Properties.  Building on momentum from the 2021 Canadian Championships at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Center, Oxford Properties continues to support our cross-country tour as the Title Sponsor for the Canadian Open in Calgary. “Oxford Properties is excited to partner with Squash Canada to provide the venue for the 2022 Canadian Open” shared David Routledge, Vice President and Head of Western Canada Office. “Supporting this elite level of international competition provides an exceptional experience to engage our customers and allows us to showcase Bow Valley Square as a world-class property playing host to a world-class sporting event.”

This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada, Department of Canadian Heritage.  Squash Canada also gratefully acknowledges the support of Tourism Calgary, Calgary Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Canadian Open will also commemorate the re-opening of the newly renovated Bow Valley Athletic Club, the iconic urban center Calgary squash institution with a new modern vision as downtown Calgary’s premier social and athletic club.  CEO Dean Brown, who will serve a Co-Tournament Chairman along with BVAC partner Darren Thomson was quoted as saying “The BVAC is thrilled to be the host of the 2021-22 Canadian Open and in particular to celebrate the growth of Canadian women’s squash.  The event dovetails perfectly with the new BVAC’s vision and relaunch to the Calgary community. We look forward to hosting a successful event and doing our part to grow the sport.”

Squash Canada is excited to continue to bring our athletes and community to the public eye and is thrilled to partner with both Oxford Properties and the Bow Valley Athletic Club. Information on ticket sales, event details, draws, social, community events and live streaming will be available in the coming weeks.
