White & Case Wins Three LatinFinance “Deals of the Year” Awards

LatinFinance has recognized three transactions White & Case advised on as 2022 "Deals of the Year" at its 2022 Deals of the Year Awards event on January 26. The awards recognize the best transactions, banks and law firms over the past year in Latin America and the Caribbean.

LatinFinance White & Case Deals of the Year 2022:

  • Initial Public Offering of the Year: Nubank $2.6bn IPO

    White & Case advised the underwriters on the initial public offering and listing of Class A ordinary shares on the New York Stock Exchange and Brazilian depositary receipts on the B3 of Nu Holdings Ltd. The net proceeds from the initial public offering were approximately US$2.5 billion.

  • Corporate Local Currency Deal of the Year: Equatorial Energia's Renewables Acquisition Financing

    White & Case represented Equatorial Energia, a publicly-listed Brazilian energy company, in a 144A/Reg S offering of 118,395,000 common shares at a price per common share of R$23.50, totaling R$2.8 billion (approximately US$540 million). Equatorial Energia used the proceeds from the offering to finance the acquisition of Echoenergia Participações, an energy company that produces solar and wind energy.

  • Corporate High-Yield Bond of the Year: Braskem Idesa $1.2bn Sustainability-Linked Bond

    White & Case advised Braskem Idesa, S.A.P.I., the owner and operator of the US$5.2 billion Etileno XXI petrochemical complex in Veracruz, Mexico, on the refinancing and prepayment of its project finance debt with a US$1.2 billion in aggregate principal amount of 6.990% senior secured sustainability-linked notes due 2032. Braskem Idesa is the largest Mexican producer of polyethylene. The petrochemical complex began operations in 2016 and has a production capacity of 1.050 million tons of polyethylene per year.
