Vanderbilt University and Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos are seeking help from alumni and fans in the search for a new athletics director.

In his regular blog, Zeppos announced the launching of a website "designed to collect feedback from our broad and diverse community, where I hope you’ll add your voice."

Athletics director David Williams announced his upcoming resignation last week. He will stay on the job until his replacement is found, a process that Zeppos wrote will take "the next several weeks."

The initial post on the new website includes a questionnaire available to the public. Questions include:

  • What leadership characteristics and values are most important for Vanderbilt's next athletics director?
  • What do you think is the No. 1 priority for Vanderbilt's athletics program moving forward?
  • What are the strengths of Vanderbilt's athletics program?
  • What are potential areas of focus for improvement?

Zeppos wrote that he will begin conversations with coaches, students, alumni, faculty, staff and fans for feedback on Vanderbilt athletics. He also plans to hold a series of small-group meetings with former players and longtime supporters to "inform our search, but also provide valuable insights to our next athletics director."
