The Devices pane within the Microsoft Intune admin center has an updated look that provides a more consistent user interface (UI), that includes more capable controls and an improved navigation structure to help you find the information you need faster.

Changes to the Devices pane include:

  • A new scenario-focused navigation structure that brings monitoring in line with management workflows.
  • New, in-line monitoring pages with easy access to key metrics and reports.
  • A new location for platform pivots that help to create a more consistent navigation model.
  • Consistency across list views to search, sort, and filter data.

Starting with Microsoft Intune’s March (2303) release, you can opt into the public preview to try out the new experience. During the public preview, admins can switch back and forth between the new and old experiences without impacting other admins. To enable the new experience, go to the Devices overview page, select the Devices preview notification banner, and click the Try it now button. The new experience will load and remain active even if you close the browser until you switch it back.

The first change you’ll notice is the updated Devices overview page. The platform pivots are located prominently at the top, making them easy to find. You can see key metrics immediately and then choose to view the associated reports. Additionally, the Devices left navigation menu has been simplified and has a cleaner look and feel.

The workloads under Devices have also been updated to bring monitoring and management together in a tabbed layout. For example, let’s look at the Compliance pane. All monitored data and relevant reports are now located in the same place as your management tasks, to help you find and act on issues more quickly. Workload tasks under Devices have been updated to the Monitor tab as their default landing page, and other management workloads have been moved to appropriate adjacent tabs.

Part of the visual refresh includes an updated experience for list views, which is available to all Intune admin center users even without the Devices preview enabled. Filtering has been moved from the command bar to a filter button that is easy to find and allows you to quickly see which filters are applied. These updated list views also support infinite scrolling instead of having to click through pages) and your column selections are now retained.

Future improvements

We plan to continue making improvements to the Devices pane experience and bring the modern visual style to other areas in the Intune admin center over time. Stay tuned to What’s new for announcements about these updates as we roll them out.

Known issues

Conversion of the list views is on-going, so you’ll see a mixture of UI styles with some list views with the old controls and other settings updated to the new controls.
