Altenew All Things Handmade Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, hi! I’ve been “out of office” for the last few weeks! Did you miss me? Nevermind, don’t answer that. (;-D) I’m back today finally, joining the Altenew All Things Handmade blog hop, showcasing new stamps, dies and more! You should be arriving from the Altenew Card Blog where the hop begins, and if not, you can click the link to start back there.

My first projects are a couple of fun, colorful cards using the An Artist’s Collection which consists of stamps, dies and stencils although, I only used the stamps and stencils this time.

Card #1 was quick and easy as none of the images overlap any others. I just stamped the outlines onto white cardstock, then used the stencil to add color to the basic shapes, emphasizing darker shadows on the edges by leaving a light center.

For adding color to the smaller areas I found the Detail Blending Brushes and the Mini Blending Brush Set to work great! I tell you what. I wouldn’t ink blend without those brush sets! For the areas of the paint tubes that don’t have coordinating stencils I used alcohol-based Artist Markers to add color.

To finish the card, I needed a sentiment of course. But as you can see, I didn’t think it through from the start and as a result, didn’t leave myself a good spot for stamping the greeting. The method I chose to rectify the oversight, was to stamp the greeting on a strip of colored cardstock (I tried a few colors until concluding that the green cardstock looked the best).

I popped up the stamped and colored panel with foam tape and added some coordinating enamel dots to finish the card.

For my second card, I stamped and fussy cut some of the images onto masking paper so that I could create a layered scene.

I used the stencils again to do most of the base colors, with high-lights created with a lighter blending hand, and alcohol markers for the tubes of paint.

This time I left some room for the sentiment – one of eight options in the stamp set, popped up the card panel again, and finished the card with some coordinating enamel dots.

My last card features the Tied With Love stamp and die set from this release, and the Bubble Wrap Stencil from a previous release to create a dynamic background design.

To create a cohesive design with two different products and motifs (dots and string/stripes) I unified them by using the same color of ink – the recently released Tanzanite Crisp Dye Ink. I stamped the lines of strings directly onto the stenciled background, and die cut the bow before stamping it and stacking with with two more layers of die cuts.

I made sure the ink was good and dry before stamping the greeting with embossing ink and heat setting with silver embossing powder. Some matching blue enamel dots complete the card.

That’s my projects for this release! But there’s lots more to see and be inspired by, starting with your next stop at Jaycee’s blog! Before you go though, be sure to check out the free gifts and giveaway details.
