Altenew Adventures Ahead Stamps/Dies/Stencils/More Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi, hello! Welcome to the Altenew June release and blog hop! You should be arriving here from Jenny Colacicco’s blog, but if not, please click back to the start of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog.

I’m sharing 3 cards today, featuring 2 different stamp and die sets. The first is Enjoy Your Journey, with an assortment of lovely travel images and good sentiments. The second, Inky Bouquet, is my favorite kind of floral bouquet design to create with!

For my first card, I decided to use all four of the travel-themed images on one slimline sized card, positioning and stamping them to, not exactly overlap, but snuggle together and fill the card panel. The mountain pass image with the train coming out of the tunnel is the only one that needed to be modified, and I did that by stamping the advancing train image first, then putting a post-it note over where the bridge-train would have stamped over top.

To give the images and card a bit of a vintage postcard feel, I stamped with Dark Chocolate ink and painted shadows and shading using the Paper Bag ink in the Artist 36 Pan Watercolor Paint set.

I combined two of the individual sentiment stamps to create the “Enjoy” greeting and stamped with Obsidian Pigment ink for a crisp, clean look.

I matted the stamped and painted card panel with some coordinating brown cardstock and left the card without any further adornment because I felt the stamped images were enough and anything more could just be distracting!

My next two cards feature the Inky Bouquet stamp and stencil set done two different ways.

For the first one, I stamped the Inky Bouquet Outline stamp several times to cover an A2 sized card panel using Obsidian Pigment Ink.

Then I used the coordinating stencils to add color to the images. I kept the carnation and rose fairly simple, ink blending to cover the whole bloom, but intensifying the color at the centers.

I ink-blended with shades of purple, blue and green to color the hydrangea, because that’s my favorite coloration for that particular flower. When ink blending the leaves, I found the small Detail Blending Tools to work really well for those smaller areas, and to be able to mix different shades.

After coloring the images, I added “ink splatters” with the three splatter stamps included in the set! If you dislike the lack of control you have in splattering the traditional way, then you’re going to LOVE this stamp set! So realistic and perfectly sized! Then the greeting is one of the seven sentiment stamps in the set and I love the look of the mixed fonts!

But ultimately, you know there’s going to be a watercolored card in the bunch! For the last card, I stamped on Altenew smooth watercolor cardstock with Obsidian Pigment ink and heat setting with clear embossing powder.

I used both the Artist 24 Pan and the 36 Pan paint sets to watercolor this image, adding a shadowy background with a mix of all the colors used for the painting together. But I turned to the ink-splatter stamps to add my paint spots because they’re just too perfect not to!

I stamped another of the greetings included in the Inky Bouquet set and heat set it as well. I cut the card panel short along the bottom to allow a coordinating shade of card stock to trim the card and add some interest.

That’s all for me today, but the next stop on the hop is Vicky Papaioannou’s blog where you’ll get more to inspire you! Before you go though, check out the prizes below, and don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win!
