Altenew Classic Imagery Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey, hi friends! I have two blog hop posts today, and if you’re here for the Spellbinders May Clubs blog hop, you’ll find that one here.

If you’re arriving here from Laura Jane’s blog, you’re right where you should be, and if not, you can click back to the start of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog and not miss a thing! I have several cards to share today, a couple featuring a new embossing folder called Deck Planks 3D – part of the Classic Imagery release, and two more that feature a fun new builder stencil set – Quilt Block!

This post contains affiliate links that are listed below. By clicking through to purchase products linked, you are helping to support this blog at no additional cost to you and that allows me to continue to provide you with creative inspiration and instructive help.

My first card uses the 3D Deck Planks embossing folder to emboss some white cardstock which I then ink blended with two shades of brown ink before trimming to resemble individual planks. I love the detail in the embossed image that catches the darker ink.

To complete the card and allow the background to shine, I simply added some stamped flowers and leaves from the Flower Garden stamp and die set, leaving the flowers uncolored and painting the leaves with Altenew Watercolor Brush markers. I also stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips die set heat setting with white embossing powder.

For my second card featuring the Deck Planks embossing folder I embossed and ink blended some white cardstock as outlined for the first card above, then trimmed the textured paper to a small background rectangle shape.

I stamped an image from the Paint-A-Flower: Coneflower stamp and die set, then adhered it to the embossed cardstock and added another white heat-embossed sentiment strip overtop. I adhered this to a folded card base with a panel of patterned paper glued to it.

If they ever invent a pill to replace sleep, I will become a quilter. In the meantime, I’m happy to substitute that craft with a paper stenciled version!

For my first card, I stenciled the 4 different quilt block patterns included in the Quilt Block layering stencil set.

I chose my color scheme inspiration from this image that I found on Pinterest, and used Arctic Mountain, Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie inks to stencil my quilt blocks.

Even using a slimline card format, I could only fit 3 of the block designs on the card, so I chose three of them for this card and used the 4th for another card (to follow). I free-handed pen stitched lines to simulate sewing stitches and adhered the blocks to a neutral cardstock background.

For the greeting on this card, I combined the “just wanted to say” from the Halftone Hello stamp set, with the “hello” from the Bouquet of Love stamp set.

For my last card, I used the 4th quilt block in the stencil set and tried another technique to simulate real quilting. I ran the ink-blended design through the die cutting machine with the Dotted Swirls Debossing Die to produced the dotted design. I added to that with more pen-dots around the white sections of the block.

Then I matted the quilt block with some white cardstock and with a second mat of white cardstock ink blended with the Pumpkin Pie ink to match perfectly, and popped the three layers up with some Instant Dimension foam tape on the back.

I finished the card with a sentiment strip in neutral gray stamped with a greeting from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set, heat set with clear embossing powder.

I can’t wait to try some other color schemes for a “crazy quilt” styled framed decor piece! You can shop the Classic Imagery Collection here.

The next stop on the hop is Sandhya Iyer’s blog, but before you go, let’s talk about the giveaways!
