About the North Carolina Service-Learning Coalition
The North Carolina Service-Learning Coalition (NCSLC) is a statewide network of preschool to graduate school educators, community partners, students and civic engagement advocates. Our mission is to nurture partnerships among PreK-12, higher education, and community organizations to promote, support, advance and sustain high-quality service-learning in North Carolina.
About the NCSLC Summit
The NCSLC Summit is a chance for members and affiliates to come together to share ideas, demonstrate best practices and models of service-learning in action, and hear from students and educators who espouse the values of the Coalition. The NCSLC Summit also offers participants a chance to meet others from across the state who share a love for service-learning pedagogy.
About Workshop Proposals
Sessions are offered in lengths of 50 or 90 minutes.  Workshops are projected to average 30 - 50 attendees. NCSLC seeks proposal submissions from PreK-12, college/university, and community partners which demonstrate how service-learning is advancing civic engagement among young people throughout the state.
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be assessed on content quality, creativity of delivery, audience participation, and incorporation of the Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice. For more information on the Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice, visit http://nylc.org/standards/.

We strongly encourage proposals from young people active in service-learning. Workshops that involve audience interaction are also strongly encouraged. Presenters are able to apply for both a workshop and a showcase.
Showcase Display Proposals
Showcase displays may showcase a service-learning project, materials, products or resources. The Coalition will provide a table and two chairs for each display. Additional chairs, a table covering, and access to electricity may be requested. Presenters should provide their own display board, computer/technology equipment, and extension cord.

Students may manage a display, however an adult must be present during showcase times if students are under 16.

Vendors who wish to showcase materials and resources, there is no fee for your display, but we ask that you provide door-prize giveaways for the Summit.
