Legacy Academy of Innovation

We are working to open a competency-based learning school in Florida. Legacy Academy of Innovation would be a not-for profit institution that will offer students an education beyond the traditional grade-based methods.  
 
The current public education model was created for the industrial revolution and largely still adheres to that century- old, industrial-age framework. That model is based on seat time, i.e. every first grader must stay in that grade level for one school year. This creates students who are moved to the next grade level prior to being ready as well as students who must wait until the next school year to advance and be challenged although they are prepared sooner.
 
Legacy Academy of Innovation will use the competency-based education framework. Competency-based education meets students where they are academically, provides opportunities for choice, and awards students credit for evidence of learning, not time spent studying a subject. There will be no grade levels. Every student succeeds. 
In addition, we will be an arts integrated school. Not only will students be involved in various areas of the arts without the need to audition, but the arts will be assimilated into the daily content of the classroom.
