Ever since its international debut in China at the Youth Olympic Games Nanjing 2014, Hockey5s as the dynamic, innovative and instantly accessible small-scale version of hockey has gained significantly in popularity.
Four years later, it even proved to be the most successful sport of the Games in Buenos Aires with sellout crowds for every match.
Building on this success, the first ever FIH Hockey5s World Cup at senior level to be held in 2024 in Oman will be a ground-breaking event – aiming to entertain, to inspire and to further raise the global status of our sport.
A total of 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams will have to showcase breath-taking speed and dazzling moments of action in a fantastic venue to win the inaugural edition of this exciting new competition.
As a permanent addition to the FIH event portfolio, this event for the shortform version of hockey will be held every four (4) years.
