E.g. Discusses strategies for winter hiking, layering; heat/moisture management; sweating/ventilation (wicking materials/ cotton kills) and shows examples of appropriate clothing layers, hats & gloves. Frostbite, hypothermia, use of heat packs.
Footwear & Gear: Dexter & Paul Miller
E.g. Discusses appropriate footwear for different types of winter hiking and shows examples. Shows the various traction devices we use (microspikes, crampons, snowshoes etc). Discusses other gear that we need backpack, poles, goggles, mat, sunscreen etc

E.g. Discusses staying together, participants responsibilities, arrive on time, be prepared, bring everything on the “poop” sheet, tell leader early if having a problem, watch other participants for issues, eat as move on trail, limit time stopped.
Hydration/nutrition: Anne Duggan & Jeannine Audet.
Discusses caloric requirements, carbohydrates (simple/complex), snacks vs. meals while moving, water bottles vs. hydration bladders, water bottle insulated carriers, warm liquids; winter issues: dehydration.
