8.24.17- Hempstead HCV Elimination Listening Session

Registration is closed for this event
From May through August, we will be doing a series of Hepatitis C Listening Sessions across New York State to hear what regional communities need to eliminate HCV in our state and to discuss our elimination plan.

The goal of these sessions is to:

  • Bring people living with HCV, public health officials, local representatives, community advocates, and other members of the public together
  • Hold informed discussions on what is needed to eliminate hepatitis C in our state and our regional communities.

Please join us to assure that our movement for hepatitis C elimination in New York State uplifts the voices of and reflects the message of the communities hit hardest by this epidemic.

We will be hosting a Listening Session in Hempstead at Hofstra University from 2:00pm- 4:00pm on Thursday, August 24thWe hope that you will join us and help to get the word out.

Over 200,000 New Yorkers are living with hepatitis C (HCV), half of which do not know their status. New York City has historically been the epicenter of the State’s HCV epidemic, but in 2014 more than half (51.2%) of new chronic hepatitis C cases were diagnosed outside of NYC. Baby boomers once had the highest infection rates, but injection drug use has led to steep increases in HCV infection among 20- to 39-year-olds.

Join us in Hempstead in the fight to eliminate HCV in New York State!
