The goal of the Writers’ Community of York Region (WCYR) is to function as a hub for individuals and groups of authors, poets, playwrights, screenwriters, technical writers, journalists, business writers, networkers, editors and supporters of the written word. Unforgettable: Building Characters that Resonate -Ruth E. Walker

In this workshop, Ruth will review memorable characters and lead a group discussion on techniques of character development. Participants are encouraged to bring their character or character in progress and engage in exercises to enrich them. Ruth will discuss character partners (POV, plot, backstory). Q & A will follow.

Getting the Most from Author Events: Gary D. McGugan

This session will focus on promotional activities writers might consider for introducing books, increasing reader awareness, launching new titles, or growing sales. Gary plans an environment where participants share experiences, concerns, ideas and opportunities as they explore the challenges of personal book promotions.
