About Chris Christie at NorthJersey.com
Christopher James "Chris" Christie is the current Governor of New Jersey and, upon his election as NJ Governor in 2009, became the first Republican to win a statewide election in New Jersey in 12 years. Prior to holding office as NJ Governor, Christopher Christie, an attorney, served as United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey and as a Morris County, NJ, Freeholder. As US attorney for New Jersey, Chris Christie drew national attention and has been widely acclaimed for his battles with political corruption, terrorism and corporate crime. As NJ Governor, Chris Christie has battled public workers and teacher’s unions. Christie’s reputation for cutting budgets and his ability to raise money for Republicans helped fuel speculation that he would run for president. His term as NJ governor is being closely watched across the country and around the world. Christopher Christie has lived in New Jersey his entire life. Born in Newark, NJ, and raised in Livingston, Christie graduated from Livingston High School and attended the University of Delaware, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science before attending the Seton Hall University School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of NJ and the Bar of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, in 1987. Chris Christie and his wife Mary Pat Forster currently live in Mendham, NJ, with their four children.
