Truth to the Legends
In ancient times legends were not only stories told, but often a cultures only way of sharing their history. Ye Ming Zhu (Night Bright Pearl) is not only is not only a recorded part of Chinese history, but its lore has been immortalized for thousands of years in legends by many cultures. In the legends these glowing stones are revered and symbolic of good fortune, wisdom, wealth, and divinity. Only recently, have we been able to start experience the reality of these legends in our lives!
Hidden in Plain Sight.
The name Ye Ming Zhu simply depicts a family of glowing stones found in the ground. This title also extends to stones created to have the same crystal structure, gone over in depth in What is Ye Ming Zhu. Whenever a legend depicts a glowing stone, that stone is part of the Ye Ming Zhu family.
Dragon and Phoenix
Throughout Chinese art we commonly find Ye Ming Zhu as the Dragon with a glowing pearl. However Ye Ming Zhu is truly created by the perfect balance of the Dragon and Phoenix. This balance between the Dragon, Phoenix, and the Pearl is found in some of China’s most famous stories, as the center piece of ancient artifacts, and depicted throughout the most sacred temples.
Beyond the Dragon and Phoenix, similar glowing pearls and spheres are depicted in the Orient with many Celestial Beings including Guan Yin and Buddha holding a luminous pearl. In Buddhist art and culture, legends are shared of the “Jewel in the Lotus”, “Divine Pearl”, ”Wish fulfilling Gem”, and also a “Jewel that Grants all Desires”. These legendary objects share many attributes associated with Ye Ming Zhu and is regularly depicted glowing.
Legends of Cintamani stone
Another Celestial often pictured with a glowing stone is Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, known as the “Wish Grantor” (also called “Ti Tsang P’usa”, and “Di Zhang Wang Pu”). The stone he is pictured with is called the Cintamani or the ‘Fireball of the Bodhisatva Ksitigarbha’. The Cintamani is more than a legend, in the 1900’s a piece of the glowing Cintamani was given to Russian artist and mystic Nicholas Roerich. People referred to as the ‘Stone of Heaven’ and ‘Treasure of the World’ it was believed to have celestial origins. Some even say it was brought to Earth by emissaries from another planet orbiting the star Sirius.
The energy emitted by the Cintamani is said to help increase a person’s vibratory frequency and bestow the ability to see into the past and future, opening doors into higher dimensions – interstellar and celestial. In legends the Cintamani was also said to increase the spiritual vitality of anyone who touched it, infuse them with knowledge, enhance their psychic abilities, and allow them to glimpse Agartha (home of the Eight Immortals). Legends also say, it has the power to turn base metals into gold, and to transform humans into Immortals. Since the Cintamani is a glowing stone it is also a variety of Ye Ming Zhu.
Ye Ming Zhu in India
In Indian legends there are also many legendary glowing gems. The Naga-Mani (glowing cobra stone), the Kaustubh, the Rudra-Mani, and Syamantaka-Mani.
The Syamantaka-Mani was shared in legends of Krishna and can be traced through the hands of and many monarchs over the last 5,000 years. Some believe it to be the diamond on the crown of today’s Queen of England, (stolen in the English conquest of India). The Syamantaka Mani is now known as the Koh-i-Noor (the “Mountain of Light”) diamond. Legends say the ‘Syamantaka’ will glow again when held by it’s true owner.
Ye Ming Zhu in Mormonism and the Bible
Even in places like the Bible and the Book of Mormon share legends of glowing stones and the importance of them to their religions. In Dr. Apollos research he connects Ye Ming Zhu to Urim. Urim is a glowing stone which the Book of Mormon was decoded through. Urim is also the stone in Exodus 28:30 which is to be worn over the heart of Aaron to discern the will of of God. Ye Ming Zhu in Today’s stories
As you can see Ye Ming Zhu is depicted throughout myths and legends, worldwide. These key archetypes are also seen in todays modern society.
The Hobbit features the ‘Arkenstone of Thrain’. The Arkenstone, the “Heart of the Mountain” and a wondrous glowing gem with great power. The 2014 movie “Noah” they depict the descendants of Cain built a technological society based around a mineral that glows named “Zohar”, and once “Zohar” runs out the civilization declined. Some Rabbis explain the word “Tzohar”, which is translated as “window” in the King James (Genesis 6:16), really means “light” “shiner” or “illuminator”.
Throughout the massively popular RPG gaming genre, hundreds of millions of people have spent billions of hours deeply immersed in worlds where Dragons are real, gems glow, and magic is possible. These games have opened the minds of entire generations, spending countless hours living in these realms, interacting with these fantastic images, myths and legends.
Regardless of your belief around these legends; opening the imagination to myths and magic is one of the gifts Ye Ming Zhu can bring into our life. These legendary luminous gems can truly bless our life when we activate them.
