Description

For individuals that are unable to attend WSTIP’s classroom-style training sessions; two 90-minute webinars are being offered that will summarize the full-day curriculum. The instructor, Diana Byrnes, will begin the sessions by describing the two fatal transportation events that led to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing and then identifying the regulations relevant to transit operations. Diana will define the safety-sensitive functions and the required elements of an FTA-compliant testing program such as policy, training, background checks, etc. She’ll describe the specific thresholds that authorize testing in each of the testing circumstances (random, post-accident, etc.) and the process that a violating employee must complete prior to returning to safety-sensitive duty in the transportation workplace. Diana will also address best practices in record retention and storage as well as tips for conducted testing vendor compliance. Participants will have an opportunity to pose questions at the close of each webinar.
