Democratic Senate candidate Jane Raybould, who is challenging Republican Senator Deb Fischer in the November election, said Friday that she wants to make coverage more available and prevent prescription drug price-gouging.

Raybould says incumbent Sen. Fischer is playing a part in driving up health care costs, pointing to the senator's vote to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, increasing the number of uninsured Americans by 13 million.

"The entire market was upended by Washington," Raybould said. "These politically driven changes to the healthcare system are driving up costs for Nebraskans."

Sen. Fischer has stated she wants to give people more choices when it comes to buying private insurance, including allowing the sale of health insurance across state lines, much like car insurance.

Sen. Fischer and Jane Raybould will square off in a debate hosted by 3 News Now and the Omaha World-Herald on Aug 27 at Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.
