Mission

The Pathfinder Program empowers emerging members in the Summit County community to enhance their professional development & networking by creating meaningful relationships with experienced members of the Akron Bar Association.

About

The Pathfinder Program connects 3rd and 2nd-year law students with local and experienced attorneys, who serve as Guides. Through one-on-one relationships, our Guides assist participants as they begin to transition from law school to the practice of law.

Schedule of Events

Commencement Social & Speed Networking Event (Feb.) – Guides/Mentees will join members of the Akron Bar to get to know each other.

Exploring Career Paths (Mar.) – Guides/Mentees will coordinate a meeting to discuss the Guide’s career path, his or her practice areas, and opportunities for the mentees in the legal profession.

Building Your Brand & Networking (Apr.) – Guides/Mentees will attend one (1) social or business-related activity.  Before the event, they will briefly discuss professionalism and best practices for navigating social/networking events.  In the past programs, Guides have often invited Mentees to visit their offices, etc.

Attorney Leaders (May) – Guides/Mentees will coordinate at least one (1) opportunity for Mentees to shadow a board, committee, section meeting, or another community event.  Before the meeting, they will discuss the roles in which attorneys serve as leaders in the community.

Bar Takers' Cookout (Jun.) – As the Program concludes, Guides/Mentees will enjoy a picnic lunch while mingling with fellow law students, graduates, and members of the Akron Bar.
