This year, our computer teacher was given a Mac lab which (of course) comes with Garageband so we decided to teach both of our sets of classes how to use Garageband. This book, in addition to allowing me to get answers I need, has lesson plans which I can use to teach Garageband in a logical way. The computer teacher purchased a book also - our dance teacher has decided to buy one as well - and, as we are going through the first lesson, I learned two new tricks I was unaware of. These lessons will be great! The kids will love them and we will finally teach students how to write music using a computer.
Robin Hodson is a co-author of this book. Anything he does is awesome and all about making technology easy and efficient for the user.
1) It's oriented towards those teaching a course involving these programs (ok, I thought, same lessons should apply..)
2) It turns out GarageBand ONLY runs on Macs and Mixcraft ONLY runs on PCs. So you couldn't use the two programs on the same computer
3) To get you started on GarageBand, they immediately start with GarageBand Demo songs. I have GarageBand 11 - but no such demo songs. The book suggests if you don't have the songs, surf the web for a free download of them. After a half hour of searching and trying incorrect options, I gave up.
