American Airlines to Add 2 New Cities, Upgrade Prague Service

American Airlines has announced that it will begin daily year-round service from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Asheville, NC (AVL) and Chattanooga, TN (CHA). When the new service begins on May 3. American will offer the only non-stop flights from PHL to these destinations.

American will operate the flights on Embraer 175 aircraft.

The largest carrier at PHL also announced that it will offer more seats and Premium Economy on flights between Philadelphia and Prague in 2019 due to popular demand and robust ticket sales. When the seasonal service resumes in May, it will be operated by larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft featuring Premium Economy and more than 500 additional seats per week. PHL-PRG debuted earlier this year and was flown on B767 aircraft.

“The success of the Prague flight has been overwhelming, and even more travelers will be able to take advantage of this popular service next year,” said Airport CEO Chellie Cameron. “Moreover, American continues to add more flights to more cities currently not served from PHL, giving travelers even more convenient options to fly from Philadelphia. We are pleased to welcome Asheville and Chattanooga to our growing non-stop route map.”
