HCA Healthcare Announces Greg Lowe as President of Newly Created North Carolina Division

HCA Healthcare veteran Terence van Arkel named North Carolina Division CFO; Mission Health’s Ron Paulus to remain with HCA

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA), a leading healthcare provider with 185 hospitals and more than 1,800 sites of care in 21 states and the United Kingdom, today announced veteran hospital leader Greg Lowe has been named president of the newly created Asheville-based North Carolina Division, which comprises the recently purchased Mission Health system of six hospitals in western North Carolina, effective April 1.

Lowe has served as chief executive officer of HCA Healthcare’s Chippenham and Johnston-Willis (CJW) hospitals, a two-campus system in Richmond, Va., since 2016.

In addition, HCA Healthcare veteran Terence van Arkel has been appointed CFO of the North Carolina Division. Ronald A. Paulus, MD, Mission Health’s president and CEO will transition to a new role as a strategic advisor on key areas of operations and report to Chuck Hall, president of HCA Healthcare’s National Group.

Before becoming CEO of CJW, Lowe was CEO of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, an HCA Healthcare-affiliated level II trauma center in Fort Pierce, Fla. During his tenure at Lawnwood, Lowe led the opening of a level III NICU and developed a pediatric emergency department and the Treasure Coast’s only comprehensive stroke center. Before joining HCA Healthcare, Lowe held CEO roles at hospitals in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Van Arkel, who has been CFO of HCA Healthcare’s South Atlantic Division since 2016, played an important role in the integration of recently-acquired Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga. He has spent more than 23 years with HCA Healthcare, serving in a variety of hospital leadership roles, including as CFO of Regional Medical Center of San Jose, Doctors’ Hospital of Augusta, JFK Medical Center and Orange Park Medical Center. He also served as chief operating officer of Trident Medical Center and Doctors’ Hospital of Augusta.
