Hampton Roads Oyster Gardening Roundups

Returning Gardeners Only

Registration is open. See locations, dates, times, and links to register below.

Each year, CBF oyster gardeners return their year-old oysters at CBF Oyster Roundups at various locations throughout Virginia. This year we will be collecting oysters in June, July, and August. CBF transplants the oysters the same day we receive them to state-managed sanctuary reefs, where they will continue growing and spawning—helping to jump-start local oyster populations.

These roundups are also a way to get new baby oysters for the year. A $35 fee is required for spat-on-shell to offset program costs. Your 18" x 9" cages should be reused year after year. If you need to replace cages or are expanding the number of batches you will be growing, additional cages can be requested during registration free of charge.

CBF is proud to partner with the Elizabeth River Project, Friends of the Rappahannock, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Portsmouth Parks and Recreation, and The Tides Inn to help expand our oyster gardening program.
