Why this petition matters

Oklahoma school districts cannot implement mask mandates until a state of emergency is declared and our governor has made it clear that he does not intend to implement one despite the ongoing wave of the Delta variant of COVID-19. Elementary aged children are not yet eligible to be vaccinated for COVID-19 but need to return to the classroom safely for their development. Because masking works best when everyone wears one, we are demanding that there be accommodations made for in-person elementary classrooms. We are demanding that Norman Public Schools has classrooms dedicated for those who will mask until vaccines become widely available to all school aged children. Our children deserve to be healthy and receive their right to an education with appropriate measures taken to ensure their safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are a caregiver of a child who deserves protection during this pandemic, please add your name. The district needs to recognize that there are families interested in accommodations to protect our precious children through the simple act of providing masked classrooms.
