Poudre High School celebrated its senior night with a sweep of both the boys and girls games against visiting Fort Collins, highlighting a Thursday night when all the city's Class 5A basketball teams were in action.

Jack Fisher scored 33 points, hitting 13 of 17 free throws, to lead the Poudre boys to a 71-58 win in a game that was close at halftime. Poudre, which led 34-30 at the break, pushed the lead to 10 on a 3-pointer by Sergio Tarango less than two minutes into the second half. The Impalas held a lead of six points or more the rest of the way.

Damian Forrest added nine points and Rhys Travis eight for the Impalas (11-8, 7-6 Front Range League).

Emeri Palacio had 18 points and Benny Khouri 14 for Fort Collins (4-20, 1-12).

Poudre girls prevail

Libby Coutre scored 14 points and Brooke Bohlender had nine for the Poudre girls, who used a strong fourth quarter to beat the Lambkins 33-28.

Poudre improved to 8-14 overall and 6-6 in the FRL with the win.

The score was tied 22-22 after three quarters, and it was still just a one-possession game in the final minute.

Hannah Clark led the Lambkins (8-16, 4-9) with nine points, all on 3-pointers, and Isabel Layne added six.

Rocky Mountain boys beat Fossil Ridge

The 10-year drought is broken.

A barrage of third-quarter 3-pointers helped the Rocky Mountain boys basketball team break its Fossil Ridge curse Thursday night.

The Lobos beat the SaberCats 54-39 for their first win over Fossil Ridge since Dec. 5, 2009, when the SaberCats were still in Class 4A.

Rocky Mountain (13-10, 7-5 Front Range League) turned a two-point halftime deficit into a 13-point lead after three quarters. Tyler Fisher hit two 3-pointers, and Joseph Naddy, Joe Urynowicz and Jaeden Lucero each hit one in the explosive 23-point third quarter.

Fisher led the Lobos with 20 points, and Urynowicz had 17 as Rocky Mountain finished the regular season as winners of eight out of its last nine. The Lobos are No. 33 in RPI and will be in the 5A playoffs when brackets are released Sunday.

Zack Crane and Drew Cornmesser had nine points each to lead the SaberCats (13-10, 7-5 FRL). Fossil Ridge is No. 32 in RPI after the game.

Both teams are on the bubble to host first-round games.

Fossil Ridge girls get lopsided win

The girls game was decided in a blowout, with Fossil Ridge cruising to a 66-29 win.

The SaberCats (19-3, 11-1 FRL) are ranked No. 8 in the 5A coach and media poll. Ten Fossil Ridge players scored in the win. Fossil Ridge is hunting a top-four seed in the 5A playoffs and is No. 3 in RPI. The SeberCats finish the regular season at Valor Christian (No. 4 in RPI) Friday night.

Taylor Brook led Rocky Mountain (9-14, 4-8 FRL) with 10 points, and Laisha Armendariz Lopez had seven. The Lobos should make the 5A playoffs and are No. 40 in RPI.
