VIDEO: C5 Functional Side Cove Ducts
I just installed these on my car. I don’t believe there is anything else like this on the market so I thought I would share the info here.

So, just a quick update on this. I've now had a chance to drive the car a few times since my install. I've not had a chance to do any performance driving. However, I have noticed that when driving at or close to highway speeds, these make a noticeable change to wind noise. You can actually hear the air coming through these vents. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing. However, it was an interesting observation that I thought people would like to know about.

Thanks for posting...very intriguing for sure. I too am wondering about the effects of road debris being channeled through this vent and down the side of the car. Please provide an update on your experience with these after a few hundred miles. Thanks again...

I'm guessing at some point road stuff would find its way thru the vent and do damage to the cove area. Might not be a bad idea to install some sort of screen over the intake of the vent to at least keep the big chunks out. (just my two cents and that's probably what its worth)

I saw these in the track group. I wonder how much effect it actually has. I do like them, though.

Very intriguing concept and accompanying video.
The crux is whether they do anything from an aerodynamic point of view. We all should realize that GM spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel with the C5, yet blocked the front wheel well outlet to the cove, but did choose to channel air to the rear wheel wells on the Z06.
As far as rock/gravel chips, if you track the car for any extended period it will get a rash down low behind the front wheels to the rear wheel well. If you choose to protect this area, you can also protect the coves if found necessary.

Sure, they spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel with it, but that doesn't mean that stock is perfect. Otherwise, no one would be developing splitters, wings, cannards, and hood vents for the cars.

Great product, thanks for posting. Got to get it if for no other reason than the cool factor. If it helps on the track, that is only a plus.
Nice to see new products for the C5 platform.

Actually if you remove that OEM plastic shroud you get hot air from the engine bay out the sides. Most track cars remove them. If it's a street car, only remove the driver side or water might destroy your ECU. They're blocked of so water don't get in contact with the computer in rain or car wash. There is some guy who measured the air pressure in the wheel well and found no significant high pressure zones there so letting out air from the wheel well doesn't do much for a street car, see thread below.

^^^^^ You are correct....Corvette tax at it's finest. $240 for a set. ^^^^^
Not worth it for me and how I use my car.

Maybe I'm missing something, but unsure what the real benefit of installing these would be. But, good video, Chris, and hope you will keep us updated on how they work out for you on your car.

Functional yes.... But what is the function? The front brakes have ducts that bring air in..... What function is getting air and debris on to the the side of the car? I could see if they connected to the engine bay and extracted heat, but what again do these do? **** on a boar.

I’m curious, for those that think they are too expensive.....what are you comparing it to?
These are low volume 3D printed parts. It’s not injection molded plastic made by the millions. The price seems pretty reasonable to me. 🤷♂️

$240 is too expensive? For parts that take purely fashionable fender vents and make them both fashionable and functional? I might buy them just to add integrity to the car's design. Loved that my back in the day C3 had functional fender vents. Never went fast enough or hard enough that they mattered, but at least they weren't just fiction -- unlike the black plates in my fenders today.
I might agree on the price being high, but only in that I've seen far too many 3D printed parts have a very limited lifespan. If the plastic will last, $240 is a bargain. Heck, rotor hub covers are $200 -- painted fuel rail covers, with no functional value at all, can run $270 or more.
The $240 includes 3 day shipping. Mine are on order, though I am going to need a quote from Chris on how much he'll charge me to do the installation...

Well, to me they have no functionality to them at all because I don't race my car, I do a spirited run now and then but that's about it. On another note, I'm not cutting my fender liner up for them so to me they are to expensive at any price. But that's just me and I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Do let us know if you have any concrete data on what they're designed to accomplish and how they're holding up though. The part that has me concerned is the open hole to the side of the car. I think it's going to be throwing rocks and whatever down the side of your door and fender. I hope I'm wrong but that's what I'm seeing happening. Sorry to be on the negative side but.......
