Description

The 3rd Yale Symposium on Chinese Overseas Investment Impacts will explore the ways in which China’s economic rise and development continues to shape ecosystems and economies around the world, especially with the advent of the Belt and Road Initiative—the Chinese government's US$900 billion infrastructure development plan to integrate the world's markets and trade networks.

This Symposium on Greening the Belt and Road will convene leading experts on China’s international environmental policies, energy development and infrastructure projects to engage in critical and constructive discussions about how to address China’s global environmental impacts.

The Symposium will showcase diverse perspectives and stories from around the world to provide nuanced accounts of several topics, including:

1) what the Belt and Road Initiative actually is;

2) China’s evolving environmental governance and policies;

3) environmental impacts of infrastructure development; and

4) regional case studies from experts who’ve conducted in-depth research into China’s overseas impacts.
