Meeting Overview: This is a joint meeting between the leadership of the Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program (OGRIP) and the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC). The goal of this meeting is to get to know each other better by discussing topics of common interest and to understand how each State addresses these issues, and to share ideas on how we may be able to work together in the future.

Meeting Facilitators:

  • Jeff Smith, GIO State of Ohio

  • Jim Sparks, GIO State of Indiana

The format of the meeting will be modeled around the idea of an Election Debate. To insure we make it through all of our Agenda topics, each question will have a fixed time limit. Each of the State Facilitators will respond to each question (or invite one of their state members in attendance to respond). Each question will immediately be followed by an equal amount of time for audience questions and further discussion. Any related or follow-up topics not discussed will be documented in a meeting parking lot to revisit in our closing discussion.

Meeting Contributors: In addition to the audience participation, the Executive Directors from both organizations will help moderate the discussion, keep us on schedule, and document any parking lot topics.

Meeting Participants: The Board Members and Leadership of both State Councils are invited to attend. Guests are also welcome.

a. GIS Administration & Management

b. GIS Funding & Budget

2. Here is what Ohio & Indiana are working on, and how we are doing it.

a. Orthoimagery (how the state manages and how many counties participate - how many buy-up)

b. Lidar 3DEP (how the state and counties participate - how many buy-up)

c. NHD (State / local government Stewardship & Applications)

d. Local Government (City/Town/County) Data Sharing - Centerlines, Point Address, Parcels, Boundaries, other

e. Open data, metadata and tagging

3. What challenges/issues are not being worked on (and why).

4. Discussion of National issues of interest.

5. Cross-border Opportunities to work together?

6. Joint Ohio Map / IndianaMap ideas?

7. Closing Discussion (Meeting Parking Lot topics and Next Steps)
