In few but fertile words, the poems in Elizabeth Threadgill’s stunning collection advance against the surrounding silence by one just-right syllable at a time. Like the ghost of a single light still pulsing after you’ve closed your eyes, each seemingly small surface in fact contains multitudinous worlds whose depths increase upon further attention. These beautiful poems of perception and transcendence mark a new, serious, searing voice “cutting the air with singular purpose.”

–Trey Moody, author of Thought That Nature

Here we have language sharpened and the world magnified. These poems, spare and essential, court the reader to lean to the nouns, but it’s by her verbs that Elizabeth Threadgill’s poems truly take hold. By “waking,” “weaving,” “singing,” “swinging,” and “leaving,” her poems find form for a unique and vibrant perspective.

–Kathleen Peirce, author of The Ardors and The Oval Hour
