Creating Equity in Canada's Forest Sector

Your input matters!

Background: In an effort to collect a baseline of data to have clarity on increasing diversity in Canada’s forest sector, we have developed a survey that looks at:

  • Work-life challenges and the impacts on career advancement

  • Workplace culture and its impact on attracting diversity to the sector

  • Data on type of work, working conditions, opportunities for training and advancement

Target population: The survey is targeted at forest sector workers aged 15 and over who reside in Canada's provinces and territories. The forest sector is composed of four sub-sectors - Forestry and logging, Support activities for forestry, Wood product manufacturing (including sawmills and engineered wood), and Paper manufacturing (including pulp and paperboard). Responding to this survey is voluntary.

Instrument design: The questionnaire was designed by a group of academics, practitioners, and policy experts with extensive working experience in gender, forestry, and statistics. The questionnaire was designed to follow standard practices and wording with some of the background questions sourced from Statistics Canada. The questionnaire was subjected to different layers of testing before its use in the survey.

Confidentiality and data usage: Please, note that the data will be reported anonymously. Any personal data (i.e., gender, age etc.) will not be used or published in a way that risks your identification.

This survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by April 16, 2021.
