Maternity & Child Center in Rwanda

Tax deductible

100
women lined up - only 4 had ever had seen an OBGYN or received professional maternal care of any kind during pregnancy, during birth, or after.

100 children under 12 lined up with their parents - only 30 had ever had a medical checkup in their life.

In America, if these numbers were found in a community, there would be massive reform.

In Rwanda, this is the norm in rural communities. These statistics are exactly what Zachary Rader and I (Jonny Golden) found in a community in Kivu, Rwanda.  On the day we did health assessments for the people, over 3,000 lined up to get medical care. They all had health issues that needed to be addressed.

We were completely overwhelmed and realized how much we take for granted in America. We needed to make a change.

This is a problem we can fix. Pregnant mothers are dying, babies in-womb are dying, newborns and children are dying.  The prominent reason is that childbirth is happening at home on dirt floors. A source reported that maternal mortality in Rwanda decreased by 77% when delivery was done in a medical facility. This can ALL be prevented, and the solution is actually pretty darn simple.

Zach and I interviewed the community, asking why people aren't receiving healthcare.  The issue wasn't cost, insurance, or fear. Rwandan's pretty much all have insurance, and it makes healthcare free or insanely cheap for them. A mother can deliver a child at a facility for 33 cents...33 CENTS.

According to the individuals who lived there, the issue, the only issue, was simply THE LACK OF A MEDICAL FACILITY.

Currently, this community needs to walk between 8 and 20 hours to get to a hospital.  Many don't even know one exists because of the lack of transportation/technology.

Zach and I, best friends in college, partnered together to form Do Good Health - a nonprofit project under the DGI designed to increase healthcare access in Rwanda. We are building medical clinics. We formed a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Rwanda Ministry of Health, who have given us 99 lots of land to build on - beginning with one in Kivu, Rwanda. This medical center will have outpatient care, inpatient hospitalization, and a full maternity and pediatric wing. The clinic will uniquely run through joint public-private operations.  We have made great progress on planning and fundraising towards the other wings, and are optimistic to begin construction this September.

The $15,000 we are raising here, through your support, will FULLY cover the construction and outfitting of a maternity and pediatric wing for the Do Good Health Medical center in Kivu, Rwanda.

Babies can be delivered for 33 cents. Will you donate $33 to give 100 mothers and newborns a better chance at health and life?

A donation of any amount, smaller or larger, will go directly to building this center for women and children.

Changing a life is changing the world.

Thank you for your support.
