The Heidi Hewes Walk for Cancer

Donation protected
The entire Miami Country Day School community comes together every year for the Cancer Walk to raise funds and awareness for the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the WCA and the Sylvester Comprehensive Center. Since the first Walk for Cancer in 1999, the Walk has raised nearly $700,000!  Last year the Walk raised $50,000 and with an anonymous donor volunteering to match our funds, the students proudly presented a check for $100,000 to the Heidi Hewes chapter of the WCA and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Walk is organized by a committee of high school students who volunteer their time in helping to educate everyone on cancer awareness.  These students raise money through sponsorships, sales at our Pink Store and more.  The students also organize school-wide assemblies to educate and raise awareness and encourage participation at the Walk. Every year at the Walk participants cut their hair to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, who donates wigs to benefit women whose hair loss is attributed to cancer.  Last year we had over 35 participants. If you know someone who can’t make it to the Walk, or who wants to donate more to the cause, send them this link! The Miami Country Day Spartans have always been a helping hand to Heidi Hewes Chapter of the WCA and now we need you!!
