Adidas creates completely original look for Texas A&M’s Orange Bowl uniform

COMPLETELY original.

Texas A&M returned to basics with their uniforms in 2020, with a simplified look and only two uniform combinations. But on Jan. 2, in the first game of 2021, Adidas and Texas A&M will unveil a unique look to commemorate the Aggies’ 8-1 season and first ever New Year’s Six Bowl berth.

“With Texas A&M set to play in the Capital One Orange Bowl, but also still bitter about narrowly missing the College Football Playoff, the Aggies will deviate from their standard maroon to sport the ‘Uniquely Aggie’ uniform, featuring a #SpurnedOrange color scheme, when they take on Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday,” said a statement from the Adidas marketing team. “This color scheme was developed especially for this game, and has never before been worn in a college football game to our knowledge.”

The uniform has a minimalist design, with the primary element being the two stripes on each arm to signify A&M’s second ever trip to this historic bowl game. And to represent how salty many Aggies still are about their Playoff snub, the orange jersey is complemented by an all white helmet.

The simple, iconic uniform is touched off by gloves that feature the lyrics from the famous Aggie War Hymn. The gloves call out two things all Aggies hold dear: their home state, and the fight that has led their team to this successful team.

“Texas A&M is back! And we are proud to offer this one-of-a-kind uniform that all Aggies can sport proudly,” said Chet Norsworth, Adidas Assistant Vice President of Brand Awareness Strategy. “A&M is a special place, and we feel this uniform reflects that uniqueness, giving the Texas Aggies a look that distinguishes them among their peers in college football, and more importantly, within the Lone Star State. The ‘Uniquely Aggie,’ uniform will be one that changes the industry itself. After all: what starts here, changes the world. Oh and we changed the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band uniforms too.”

We’re Texas A&M.
