The things I see aren’t for the faint of heart.

And I am no longer willing to ignore them. Not even when my family, and my best friend, tell me to keep quiet about what’s happening. They say people will think I’m crazy.

Maybe I am.

But the spirit haunting my professor’s house is definitely trying to tell me something, and I’m the only one who can see it.

The one person who can help me is my best friend's brother. But I don’t know if I can trust him or his friends. Or if I can step outside the protective bubble I’ve built around myself.

At this point it’s a toss up: the ghosts will kill me or my panic attacks will.

Either way, I figure I’m going to die.

With now three books, a novella and an omnibus, The Grimm cases series has found its place with my other favorite RH. What started with a bit of a crossover between The Ghost Bird and The Veil Diaries became its own thing, with an hilarious and endearing heroine and a bit of ghostly mysteries.

Mu contains the three first books, the novella and four additional chapters from each of the guys. And I have to say, that bonus content was an awesome little surprise -except maybe for the fourth chapter that ended up teasing us more than anything.

~ Spoilers ahead ~

First chapter is from Titus's pov, during his first time seeing Bianca. You know, that time when she pepper sprayed him.

Second chapter is from Julian's pov, on the day of Finn's "visit" to Bianca.

Third chapter is Miles's and is about the supernatural monks misunderstanding. And seriously, I still think this is my absolute favorite conversation of whole series so far. Bianca is just fabulous.

Fourth chapter is from Damien's pov and is the only chapter not related to Bianca but more of a hint about the fall out Damien had with Bryce.

This time around, I just read those as I had re-read everything a few weeks ago and already had tons of trouble getting over the ending of the third book. But even tho, it was still enough to make me jump back to it as soon as possible!

Thank you Lyla for providing me this ARC~

So Good

This series has a lot to it. Bianca is quirky and a bit weird, but she's adorable. She also has a lot of problems. It isn't hard to figure out what has happened to her in her past, but as of these books, it isn't confirmed by Bianca herself. I really hope she gets some actual help for those issues, but from the novella, it is easy to see why she is distrustful of hospitals and medical professionals. I'm not sure she can even trust Julian's mother again now that she knows the extent that she's been lied to. I think that medication was partly to help with the bond that was created between her and Finn, but overall, it hurt Bianca just as much as it helped.

Bianca learns a lot about herself and the world she is a part of that has been kept from her. She even realized that Finn, whom she loves and her adoptive parents have purposefully kept her in the dark and told her she was a crazy person. They put her into a mental institution where the workers treated her terribly. They might not know she was treated that way, but they've seriously messed up where Bianca is concerned. Even more, they've kept her from the people she was meant to be with as well as those that could have helped her. Also, her power is much weaker than it should be because of those meds. They were all well intentioned, but I agree with Kayla that they're all wrong. Though I'm not pleased with her relationship with Finn.

I love Bianca's fellow Xing, though. Damen, Titus, Miles and Julian are great. They can be overprotective at times and they step on Bianca's landmines from time to time, but they adore her and they've been more of a help to her than anyone else in her life has been. Going forward, I hope to see Bianca's romance with them grow, but with her past, it'll be slow going. The guys don't seem to mind. Besides, there are plenty of hurdles besides Bianca's issues in their path.

The story through these first three books was really interesting, though. Considering Bianca started out knowing zip about the Supernatural world other than she could see ghosts, she did really well.

Then there's the novella showing how Bianca was adopted and befriended Finn. Finn basically forced friendship on her. Bianca was pretty much along for the ride in that regard. Honestly, the main story makes me dislike Finn and her adoptive parents quite a lot. Julian's mother, too. The novella lessens that since we get to see what lead up the Bianca being hospitalized and medicated, but considering how wrongly they were in handling her, I still don't care for them. However, they did mean to help her, but they screwed up royally. The epilogue from Finn's POV just before he and Bianca go to college makes me feel a little better towards him, though. His feelings are in the right place, but his actions are wrong.

Since book five is out in two days, I wanted to re-read the first four books, so I decided to finish this bundle since it has some alternate POVs from Damen, Titus, Miles and Julian plus the novella. I'm glad that I did because there is a lot of information in this series. A lot is unpacked, but there's still a lot to learn. More of Bianca's last gets revealed in book four, but I don't remember what else happened in it. This is a good time to refresh my memory.

The Mu box set contains the first three books in the Grimm Cases series by Lyla Oweds, along with the first of the series novellas. All four stories included in this one – Origins, Ghost, Blood, and Home – were addictive four-star reads that had me powering through them in no time.

The Grimm Cases is a series that needs to be read in order, with each book pulling the reader deeper into the world. There is so much to learn, with information slowly being given as the story progressed. From the characters to the overarching supernatural world, everything leaves you curious to see how the pieces come together. Filled with plenty of moments that leave you smiling, the series ensures you’ll be diving from one book to the next in search of answers.

Without a doubt, this series is an addictive must-read.

MU: The Grimm Cases by Lyla Oweds is SO GOOD. I love that I was able to read the first three books plus the novella and bonus content, in this series a at once. I flew through this and now cannot wait to read more.

This series should be read in order. Every book builds on the last, and this series is so addictive. I absolutely love the world building. Lyla Oweds knows how to bring a reader into the world and make it feel like you’re watching events unfold first hand.

I love Bianca. She’s adorable, and super quirky, but never once is she annoying. She has a way about her that made me want to be her friend. She’s been through a lot, and her backstory is not very happy. I love how well rounded she is.

Overall, this is a great collection that I highly recommend giving a shot!

This book is just not for me. I can't with the timidity of the heroine and her reactions to things as simple as an indirect kiss or simple affection. Slow burn is great, but for me, this is something else altogether.

Who knows, it may just be a timing thing, so I won't rule out reading it at a later date, either.

Fans of reverse harems, which stay clean, are packed with magic, and hold the most quirky characters are going to enjoy this one quite a bit.

Bianca is a very, very, very shy and sheltered person, who follows her one and only best friend to college. He's not only her world but her support, since she was diagnosed with a psychological disorder years ago, one that has her seeing ghosts. But she's not so sure the supernatural isn't real, especially when a ghost isn't only haunting her but has physically left its marks. Hoping he'll help, she tries to tell him what's going on. To no avail. So, she seeks out his brother...a guy she doesn't know but heard he does dabble in those types of things. Little does she know that this one small step outside of her comfort zone is about to make her entire life flip-flop in ways no one could have predicted. And then some.

This is not a series to be read and expected a normal thinking heroine. Bianca is quirky and has the oddest thoughts at the oddest times. Add that she's been more than sheltered her entire life, and she made my eyebrows raise more than dozens of times. But that's what makes her so much fun. The guys she befriends are ridiculous in their own ways, and it makes for the strangest group...and a very fun one, at that. Just don't expect logical behavior, and you'll enjoy this one quite a bit.

The plot moves along very well through the books, for the most part. I did wonder when book three still had the same settings as book one, and some plot threads seemed to pull out longer than necessary, but I still enjoyed reading this one and couldn't put it down. There are very unexpected twists, and while some of the intrigue is solved, there's still so much to go on the continuing books (which I haven't read yet). And yet, it's simple in it's own way and holds just as much humor as it does romance or danger and action. It's simply an odd mix that weaves the entertainment level perfectly.

As to the romance, it's a slow-burn. Somewhat. Kind of. As said, this is a clean read up to this point, and while there are definitely hints at much stronger things possible in the future, Bianca's issues keep a lot at bay. Since this is a young adult read, I appreciate that.

But if you're a fun of reverse harem to the point of going super past cliche and a heroine, who is out there in the corniest and most wonderful way, and you love magical intrigue and ghosts and even deadly tension....well, this one fulfills all of that.

I received a complimentary copy and end up loving it so much more than I expected I would.

This collection includes the first 3 books in the series – Origins, Ghost, and Blood – as well as bonus chapters and the companion short Home. Which was just perfect for me as it took me a while to get into the story in Origins. Thankfully, as soon as the story pulled me in it had me in its thrall. As well, luckily for me I had the first 3 books to fly through at once. It certainly helped me jump through the story without needing to come up for air. (Something I certainly didn’t want to do!)

Bianca is a unique character to be in the head of. She thinks in a way that almost confuses me even though as the reader I’m able to follow her train of thought. She comes to some of the most insane conclusions that I’ve ever read. She takes people and their words at face value… most of the time. The rest of the time she over analyzes what they’ve said until their words take on a whole new meaning. And it’s fantastic.

makes for one hell of a ride, that’s for sure.

But of course, the paranormal world around her more than makes up for the second hand embarrassment you might get. I always love seeing how different authors create their world and characters and Oweds does not disappoint. While there are some basic similarities that many paranormal stories have – like ghosts and poltergeists – this is a fantastic new (to me) take on what the paranormal world can look like. I enjoyed every little bit of information that I was able to soak up about the world and its inhabitants.

If you’re looking for a straight up ghost hunting story, then this isn’t the story you’re looking for. However. This story focuses on a group of friends and their abilities in a truly interesting way. It showcases how they help strengthen each other both emotionally and through their powers. This group of friends truly is the center point and highlight of this story.

I recommend this read for someone who’s interested in a good time, filled with paranormal mystery and intrigue. Bianca and her friends have a lot to overcome – whether you’re looking at Bianca’s haunting or the paranormal world as a whole. It’s fascinating to watch this story unfold.

Basically the second that I finished this collection I picked up the next book in the series and dove straight back into this world. Because my goodness does this story take the reader on a ride. (I told you I didn’t want to come up for air!)

Mu is a bind up of the three first books in the new adult paranormal series, The Grimm Cases By Lyla Oweds.  I have really been enjoying this series, and I love that there are already 5 books out because I just want to read them all. They are pretty short so they are great for a quick paranormal mystery fix. The bind up also contains  a novella and four bonus chapters- one from each of the guys.  I also wanted to point out that this is a reverse harem romance, which I had no idea of when I read the summary for the book. I don't mind that (in fact, I like them) but I wanted to point that out in case that isn't your thing.

In Origins, the first book in the series, we meet out main character, Bianca who has had some run in's with ghosts. Overall though I liked Bianca, but my main interest were the mysteries. This series is cool because other than the fact that Bianca knows she can see ghosts, she really knows next to nothing about the supernatural world. Which is cool, because we as the readers get to learn everything right alongside of her. And sure, she has some missteps and misfires along the way, but I think she does a great job with everything that is thrown at her considering. I also love Bianca's four guys. Damen, Titus, Miles and Julian are great. They each have distinct personalities but they are all so supportive with Bianca, and they are honestly a great help to her when ever she gets herself in a jam. I will point out that this is not a racy reverse harem at all. Bianca had a really difficult upbringing and I think her past events have made her a little gunshy in the relationship department, and that is reflected in the very slow burn throughout these books.

This series kind of gives me a Veil Dairies vibe, so this might be a series to check out if you are a fan of that one. If you are a fan of paranormal mysteries in a slow burn reverse harem setting, then I thin The Grimm Cases series is a great series for you to check out.  Bottom line: this series will be good for fans of the Veil Dairies series, and who like paranormal mysteries. I personally cannot wait to continue on with book 4.

I came into this series only vaguely knowing what I was getting myself into. The paranormal aspect was what pulled me in, and kept me reading (that, and the cliffhangers!!).

Bianca is incredibly naive, to such a degree that she actually annoyed me for quite a bit of this. She was sheltered by her only friend and parents, and has a dark past. I laughed when she missed obvious innuendos, but groaned at so many of her outlandish thoughts and theories. I am honestly still unsure of how exactly I feel about her, though the first novella from when she first meets Finn endeared me to her (and him) a bit more.

This story is mostly focused on the paranormal, but has some elements of romantic bonding. It would fit best as a "reverse harem" story, where one woman is worshipped by multiple men. Though there is nothing physical that happens in this. The worshipping is done in non-physical, sweet ways. As this was actually my first reverse harem book, I can't compare to others, but I felt that this was well-done, making it feel very natural for Bianca to basically fall for each man individually in seemingly equal ways.

So, I will speak of the boys as a group. They are all powerful in their own ways, and slow roll exactly what ways those are. I liked that they each did feel to have their own personalities, while also being parts of a whole.

For the first book or so, there does feel like there are quite a lot of characters to keep track of, along with all the world building that is done, but it eventually becomes easier to remember who exactly is who, outside out main five.

Overall, the story is an interesting one, and I look forward to continuing it with the next several stories! Mu includes the first three books, as well as the first novella (which gives a backstory on Bianca).

This book was provided to me by Lola's Blog Tours in return for an honest review - I may have also bought the rest of the books in the series.

If you like a plot with a cute, somewhat clueless protagonist who doesn't irritate you (she is not Bella Swan), then you will love Bianca...

She lived a sheltered life, and we slowly learn more about her and her history. You do learn early on that she hides trauma, but the extent of this trauma is not yet made clear. Her cluelessness about the supernatural world she belongs to is endearing.

Then there is her boys: Damen, Miles, Titus, and Julian. I'm guessing that physical romance will play a part in this series, but the first few books are pretty tame in this aspect. The boys are all different and you do get some chapters from their points of view as the series progresses.

The supernatural aspect is based in Chinese mythology and teachings, which I haven't read a lot about. It's always interesting to see new authors take a general concept (powers based in the elements) and flip it on its head to work within their stories.

Lyla has a way of making a vulnerable protagonist strong, outspoken and likeable, where you would expect weakness. And while I think some of the writing, grammar and punctuation still needs work, the story itself is well worth overlooking all of that.

Will for sure continue reading this series (already bought books 4 and 5) and I'm interested in seeing the growth of these characters, especially Bianca's, as she learns more about her place in this world and her group.

P.S. The reincarnation side of this story sounds so intriguing!

Mu contains the three first books, the novella, and four additional chapters from each of the guys. And I have to say, that bonus content was an awesome little surprise -except maybe for the fourth chapter that ended up teasing us more than anything.

I literally read through the entire 3 books included in Mu plus the Novella in 2 days and grabbed the fourth book because I simply needed to know what was going to happen next. I am now waiting impatiently for the 5th book in the series Balance to be released.

I won't go into any details about the story itself, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoy all the characters even though at times I may get a bit annoyed with them for what they do or say, but that's normal for life in general. Bianca is quirky and a bit weird, but she is adorable. She has a lot of problems. It isn't hard to figure out what has happened to her in her past, but in these books, we haven't yet seen the bigger picture of what has happened. YOU WILL find out in the fourth book... Hidden. But since this isn't a review of that book and is only of the first three I won't tell you what is the issue.

If you haven't had the chance to go out and grab these books, I suggest to add them to your TBR pile and get to them. If you're like me and prefer to have a completed series to read you still have time since I'm sure book 5 isn't the end.

This saga is one of the best books I've read recently, and the plot and intrigue got me hooked for real (I spent one week reading all the books currently available in a row. It is THAT good).

The characters felt unique, interesting, intriguing and fascinating, everyone in their own way. But it's not only the characters that are good, of course. The trama is great and its tightly knitted, the conversations feel great, the moments of relief and comedy are truly hilarious, and the tension and stakes always feel real. And the author makes sure to keep you on your toes and never trust anything, of course!

I really recommend getting the boxset, because you will get a full arc here and have a best reading experience, while also enjoying bonus chapters and the additional novella that adds great insight to the backstory of Bianca, the protagonist.

100% recommend, will keep re-reading in the future.

Mu: The Grimm Cases Collection got off to a bit of a rocky start for me. The first few chapters made me feel completely lost. Once I settled into the story a bit more, I found the characters enjoyable. If you like quirky heroines, you'll love Bianca.

The writing was good. Aside from feeling a bit like I'd been dropped into the middle of something during those first few chapters, I enjoyed the collection. The writing flowed well, and the rest was easy to follow.

There's more going on with Bianca than the supernatural, but I hate spoilers, so that's all I'll say on the matter. The story is rather complex, and full of enough twists and turns that at times I found myself re-reading a passage just to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Overall, it was good but it just didn't wow me.

Sweet slow burning

This is a sweet but very slow moving romance. I honestly have enjoyed the slow down. This story is layered and moves at a more realistic pace. The mfc is damaged and broken from her past and then her complete knowledge of her very existence is torn from her. So you understand why she is shy and scared all the time but on that same note I can not wait to see her buck up and deal with some of her issues. The guys are awesome and varied with personalities of their own. Lots of slow to reveal secrets. I just want everyone involved to sit down and communicate, especially her. Will continue this series!

The story line to this book is a good idea but I soon realize that the blurb is very misleading. I started this book expecting it to be a sort of ghost story but it turns out this is a full blown fantasy novel with other things than just ghosts. There are phrases that are a bit repetitive and ended up bothering me after a while. Also, i have a really hard time liking Bionca. She’s a bit weird and not very relatable. How naive she is makes her a bit unrealistic. I get that some young girls can be sheltered but it’s hard to imagine anyone being as naive as she is. Despite her not having any friends you’d think she’s pick up on certain things.

This book was long, but totally worth it! The premise that a very sheltered girl who, for most of her life, thought she was mentally sick has actually had the powers to see/interact with ghosts. Now as she discovers what she is capable of, she is overwhelmed and trying to figure out who to trust, what is real, and where she fits in with four, powerful attractive men.

It was a big page-turner for sure and while many different things happen, there are still so many more unanswered questions that I am dying to find the answers to!

I'm glad I got to read all these at once! The characters had a great depth to them, and Bianca is easily my favorite. She's unique, with a rough backstory, and some things to work through, but that doesn't mean she isn't strong. The boys are a little overprotective, but they're coming from a good place. The story is engaging, with great pacing. I blew through one book in each sitting, and I look forward to reading more about Bianca and company in the future. I'm definitely curious about Bianca's past. The perfect reverse harem, magic-packed story to curl up with a glass of wine at night.

Great!

I read the first 3 books when they first came it, and while I enjoyed them, I wasn’t fully hooked - mainly because I didn’t really understand it. With book 4 out, I nabbed this collection for a reread and totally changed my mind! This is the kind of series you probably should read twice, not just for enjoyment, but clarity. I enjoyed it so much more the second go around, and now I’m ready for book 4!! Plus this has bonus content.

This is a terrific box set. It has the first 3 books. Plus bonus scenes/POVs from the first 2 books and the precursor novella. This series is one I have re-read several times and each time I pick up clues I missed before. I love Bianca’s wild but semi-true theories and how she shakes up the guys lives. You should definitely check this one out!

Once again stepping out of my normal reading... think this is becoming a habit.. :) and found myself completely intrigued with this series. Well written and a story to tell that's for sure. Twists and turns

This story is pretty intense and my heart hurts for the main character. She is so naive. Think 12ish year old in an 18 year old body. She has no grip on reality which both hurts the heart and makes her endearing. As the story progresses, she gets better and makes strides towards gaining sanity/reality, but she is still so socially young. There are hints of trauma in her past although it is not elaborated on. I think a full explanation will come eventually. And in the interest of protecting her, of trying to help her get better, the people who loved her most did her the most damage psychologically. To what extent we have yet to realize but in their efforts they simply added to her trauma. And the guys are amazing. They truly love Bianca and give her what she needs. And to be left where we are... I am hoping that Bianca can be fully healed and live a normal functional life.
There are instances of the "f" word. It is sexually clean. Nothing more than discussions (nothing graphic- but sex is discussed in a round about way. Bianca thought they were celibate, paranormal crime fighting monks. -one of the laugh out loud moments- and they do discuss the nature of their relationship. Things are alluded to but nothing graphic nor outright is talked about. When boundaries are set, she is firm that she will never want anything more than cuddles, head kisses and hand holding, which again alludes to the past trauma i suspect).

I had no idea what to expect and I truly fell in love with this series. I felt compelled to keep reading to find out what could possibly happen next. There is a lot going on and even by the end of this set there are still so many questions that need answers. I so need the next book soon. Bianca is such a mystery to us and herself. We only get a glimpse of what she is truly able to do and her past. Add in so many different male characters. Some you think she can trust and others you aren’t sure of. But always expect anything in this paranormal series, especially plenty of ghosts.

THE BEST

This series is already my favorite rh and has been as soon as I found out about it and all this did was add to my conviction about that fact. One of the main things I look for in a series is the world and relationship building and this has it in spades. If you’re thinking of trying it out, read Mu. The bonus content just sweetens the pot!
