Lincoln battles Norse monsters in the Viking Games!

As King of the Thrax, Lincoln leads the most powerful demon fighting force in the after-realms… yet he cherishes nothing more than his Angelbound love, Myla. Which is why the king loses his freaking mind when the sinister Ringmaster Kell targets his pregnant wife.

So. Not. Happening.

Ringmaster Kell runs the infamous Viking Games, a series of battles where participants take on the identity of a Norse monster and fight to the death. Sounds good to Lincoln. The king sets aside his crown and enters the arena with one goal only: destroy Ringmaster Kell.

Sometimes, a warrior just needs to ignite his baculum sword and kick a ton of evil ass. But is Lincoln protecting Myla or walking into a trap?

Perfect for readers who love Vikings, Norse mythology, hot kings and cool heroines.

Sure, this book has a lot of kick-ass battles with Norse monsters... but it's also a story about the anxiety of becoming a parent (and NOT wanting to make the same mistakes as your own mom and dad!). Plus, the narration goes back and forth between stern Lincoln and sassy Myla. What's not to love?

As per the norm, I highly recommend you read all the series before starting this story so that way you can catch all the nuisance details included and the relationship dynamics. But, all that being said, I feel like this is a pretty solid novel that could work as a standalone, with enough backstory to get your feet wet and a completely new and unique adventure that requires no introduction and resolves within this book alone.

I love how this story was delivered. While this was a Lincoln book, it is dual narrated at chapters by Myla and Lincoln, and each chapter is super fast making read "just one more" until the book was finished, much to my surprise. The pacing was fantastic and there was never a dull minute. The author also uses two very distinct voices for Myla and Lincoln, which helps to showcase their personalities. Myla is full of hot-headed impulse choices and snark whereas Lincoln is the epitome of calm, rational and well controlled. I have always been a big fan of the dynamic between the two and this was another great read to reinforce that they are one of my favorite literary couples.

I am pretty sure that if there was a competition for most stupid and evil villain, Lincoln's own father would probably win (in my totally biased mind). In the previous books I didn't like him, I found him to lack a backbone and be easily manipulated, but in this book I really hate him. And no, he is not the villain or enemy in this story, but still he is the well deserved target for my wrath- read the book and tell me you disagree.

Overall this was another solid installment in the Angelbound saga, full of awesome action and the best battle scenes a girl could hope for (including new and crazy supernatural badies to discover)- as well as plenty of warm and fuzzy feels and snark. Oh and pictures at the end of a lot of chapters that really hekped to set the stage for the story

Christina Bauer ups her game with Baculum. Everything about the book is something to rave about. Let’s start with the artwork because it is definitely something to talk about...even Harvey. I have talked about this before in relation to the “Angelbound” series and I want to say, “Kudos to the unknown cover artist.” After reading about Harvey, this could be Bauer, but I’m not sure. Anyhoo, I am loving the artwork inside Baculum. I actually want a poster size pic of “Honeymoon” because it is hot and gorgeous. It says everything about Myla and Lincoln. Hmmm...I probably should have started with Bauer has included some very cool artwork inside Baculum (laugh). Oh, and Sentinel...holy sugar, “How you doin’?”
Baculum is also told by Myla and Lincoln’s point of view. This has to be said, “Is anyone snarkier than Myla in battle?” She even beats Buffy for one-liners. Myla is freaking awesome. When I grow up I want to be just like her. She is badass, loyal, may at first come across as all “me” but she really has a heart of gold. She can roll with the punches even if she is vomiting. (laugh)
Watching Lincoln struggle to overcome Kell was fascinating. I was just as worried as Walker about our boy. This series has been great because we get Lincoln’s side of the story. He feels about Myla the same way I do. Every time she reacts to a situation, he says, “I love you” to Myla and I’m thinking, “awww Myla is so awesome.” He is definitely the straight guy to Myla’s comic relief.
Now Bauer says that she basically lets her muse lead her around and doesn’t know where her stories are going to come from or how many more Myla and Lincoln have. Now I recognize this and respect it, BUT let’s talk about how cool Sentinel is and you know there is an awesome story or two with this warrior fairy. Sentinel should be screaming loudly to the muse, “Write more about me!”
Then there is Rustle who is beyond freaking cute - even the pic is too cute. I love her energy, attitude, and her interactions with Myla. I don’t know if there is enough of a story there, but she should visit Myla again because you know she is trouble just flying around and well Myla...you get where I’m going with this (laugh).

Bauer keeps making Myla and Lincoln fresh. Baculum not only showcases it, but revels in it. The whole story is battle scenes, humor, darkness, and at the core of it: about family. Myla and Lincoln are the couple to boast about and beat...if you can. If you have never read an “Angelbound” book, you can still read Baculum and not be lost. This can be read as a standalone. So now is your perfect chance to read a great fantasy with love, bloody battles, and snark...oh and Lincoln too.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Baculum is told from both Myla and Lincoln’s points of view but the story is all Lincoln’s. Lincoln is the hot king about to go up against Norse Gods in the Viking Games to protect the love of his life Myla and their unborn baby.

Myla is the same old Myla, you know kicking a** and taking names and preferably in that order. She is just as bada** as ever. Oh, and let's not forget Myla’s Tail. A tail with a mind of its own. Who likes to be in control. Well, that is wherever Myla allows it that is.

I love Myla’s attitude and sense of humor. She is pregnant with morning sickness so hopefully, you can guess as to her attitude here and if not that can only mean one thing, you have not heard of or read any of Myla’s stories so, therefore, my suggestion is that you need to get to clicking real fast like as Myla and Lincoln are two people you don’t want to miss out on knowing.

Lincoln is the hota** king with a bada** stick, blade, or Baculum and one of the bada** fighters in the arena next to his wife Myla of course. Lincoln is this hot king, a prince who swept Myla off her feet oh wait he was a prince when that happened. Well anyway back to what I was saying Lincoln is a bada** king whose main objective is to take care of his wife and unborn baby. Like his wife, he kicks a** and takes names after the fact.

So when ringmaster Kell sets his eyes on Myla Lincoln enters the Viking Games to show this ringmaster that he can’t have his wife for any reason. Lincoln will fight to the death to protect the love of his life.

I so love this Angelbound world and can’t ever get enough of it or this hota** king and bada** queen and great Scala, Myla. When I am reading a book from this world I can’t turn the pages fast enough always looking for more bada**ery. I love the attitude and the fighting. I love Myla’s Tail and Lincoln’s blade his Baculum. I can just see Lincoln in all his hot angle gloriousness, in my mind as he makes his Baculum come to life, roaring with such hotness and glowing red. I love the honeymoon picture. Perfection!!!

I like the fighting. I like that Baculum was told from both Lincoln and Myla’s point of view. I like getting inside all the character’s heads as there are always at least two sides to a story. I like getting to know all the characters and their views on different things. I can’t wait to step into the next story from the Angelbound world and its offsprings. I am anxiously awaiting my next visit into Myla and Lincoln’s world or one of their offsprings.

I love this Angelbound world so much that I highly recommend each and every book in this world. A world full of angels, demons, and monsters. One-click your copy of Baculum today to begin this bada** journey today!

Angelbound: Baculum – Christina Bauer

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in order to provide an honest review.

Christina Bauer is an American author who writes many fantasy stories. Besides the “Angelbound Offspring” series she has also written the “Pixieland Diaries” and the “Beholder” series plus many more.

Yet again this story focuses on Lincoln and Myla who are now the King and Queen of Antrum.

Having recently been married and are now expecting their first child – Maxon.

But just as they think they can now relax and enjoy their life together, Connor, Lincolns’ father puts a big spanner in the works.

He has made a deal with a dark elf, Kell, who is the ringmaster of the Viking games. He has promised Kell Maxon’s left and never-ending servitude in the Viking games provided he “shelters” Maxon there with Lincoln and Myla, as soon as Maxon is born.

As far as Lincoln and Myla are concerned this will happen over their dead bodies. So naturally they spend their honeymoon doing whatever they can to foil Connor’s deal with Kell and end the ringmaster.

“Baculum” is a short YA fantasy story that shows just how far a parent will go to protect their child – never underestimate them. And it’s because of this simple ideal that makes this story such an attractive and appealing read, albeit a short read. Nevertheless, it is one that I enjoyed reading while curled up with a hot cup of tea, though I do wish the story was a bit longer and fleshed out just a teeny bit more.

Lincoln and Myla just got married and are looking forward to their honeymoon. Those plans quickly change when Lincoln’s dad tells them he already has ideas for their future baby. Lincoln and Myla will do absolutely anything to protect their unborn son. Myla goes on an adventure to break the agreement and Lincoln agrees to fight for Ringmaster Kell. Lincoln knows he needs to fight to protect Myla and his son. He is also looking forward to the bonus of destroying Ringmaster Kell. Will Lincoln survive the Viking Games? Will Myla be able to do what it takes to break the agreement that binds her son?

Baculum is the fourth book in the Angelbound Lincoln series. This fantasy adventure is action-packed just like its predecessors. Bauer informs readers before the story begins that this book takes place early in the actual Angelbound Lincoln series, but she also wrote the story without any spoilers. With that said, I don’t know if it would have been as enjoyable without all the backstory we have from the previously published works. I have always loved these two strong characters and can’t wait for the next story in this universe.

The latest instalment in the story of Lincoln and Myla happens just after their wedding. The enemy to be faced this time is Lincoln's own father Connor who on discovering that Myla is pregnant does a shady deal with the ringleader of the Norse games promising his grandson from birth as a warrior to the games to keep him safe from the king of hell. This tale details the battles that Lincoln and Myla must go through to protect their child and keep him safe from overbearing and pushy grandparents. In doing so they discover who they want to be as parents and king and queen of the Thrax.

A new start in their lives as adults and rulers

Great tale and continues the story of these 2 characters really enjoying being part of their world and starting to want my own sassy dragonscale tail.

Thanks to netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion

Another great read from Christina Bauer. I love how fun and easy to read these books are.

this book starts in the past with teenage Myla and Lincoln, this introduces readers to the Viking Games.
This sets the scene for the events of this book.

Connor is the worlds worst father, king and husband. He is the reason for what happens to our main characters in this book.

This time Connor decides his grandchild needs protecting for life from Armageddon, This involves making a deal with the head of the Viking games. The deal is he will protect Maxon for lifetime servitude in the Viking Games,
I am really surprised that Lincoln has not killed his father yet, he really is the worst person at "trying to help". nothing ever goes to plan and makes things so much worse.

I recommend these series of books for young adults, they are fun reads.

Tell me that you have read the books before this one. Tell me that you were excited to find the depth of layers added on to the previous stories. Tell me that the art work was just as good for further moving the story along. The vivid words were for me spectacular. The artwork raised the bar just a bit higher. The were just so much for me to fall in love with Myla and Lincoln. The dual narrative was all that and then some. You learn in this one why you never threaten/kidnap a man's woman/wife/everything.

I have to keep it real right now. I always expect a fantastic journey in to whichever direction that Christina wants to take her characters. I just was not anticipating the depths and layers of it all. I look at all the stories thus far and find that this is a fantastic tale of young love with hints of life, fantasy, and otherworldly mixed in.

When I requested this book I did not realise that is was aimed at the YA audience - that being said it was a book I enjoyed .

Told from both Myla's and Lincoln's points of view , the story focuses mainly on Lincoln .
Lincoln has agreed to go up against the Norse Gods in the upcoming Viking Games in order
to protect Myla and their unborn child . Myla however thinks she is well able to protect herself
but she does have their unborn child to think about now ...... her 'attitude' certainly remains as badass
as ever .
This is a delightful read full of "attitude" from both main characters and lets not forget that 'tail' which has an attitude all of its own !
A book I thoroughly enjoyed - I look forward to reading more from the Author in the future

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

If you enjoy great books full of magic and amazing characters, then this is definitely the book for you! If you haven't read the rest of the series before this book though, go do that! They're all good! I loved seeing how Myla and Lincoln grew more throughout the series and how their relationship blossomed into a sweet and amazing love story. They're all still as great as they were in the previous books though Myla if possible is even better. The adventure was fun and perilous and perfect as always. The romance was sweet and wonderful (and still clean). I really love the setting of these books and enjoy the magic aspect. I really enjoyed this series so far and can't wait for more from Christina!

Lincoln and Myla are back, this time with a Norse twist. If you're at all familiar with Norse mythology, you'll be able to appreciate the monsters brought to life for the Viking Games. I loved how Bauer balanced the nuance of soon-to-be parents and their worries with Lincoln's fierce need to protect Myla, and the action of the Viking Games. Having Myla's snarkiness contrast with Lincoln's calmer delivery made for dynamic narration, and there were moments I couldn't help but giggle at Myla. If you're looking for an action-packed PNR with MCs that will steal your heart and a villain you'll love to hate, you've found your next read!

Is it just me, or does the thought of a man protecting his woman just make you erupt with the feels!?

Madam Bauer has done it again. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book; it is told in dual perspective, from both Lincoln and Myla. I love books that go back and forth; having a glimpse into the two POVs is one of my favorite readings. I loved the Viking Games. And my goodness, Lincoln. As a huge fan of the main series, I love that Lincoln can tell his side of the story too. Highly recommend!

I am enjoying this series. I do like the 2 POV and that we are discovering more about Myla & Lincoln's married life together (even if in this one they are still on their honeymoon). I like that they trust each other to do their part against whatever they are facing. I have forgotten who they became King & Queen when Lincoln's parents are both still alive so may need to go back and read that book.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Between the different personalities of Myla who is pretty much a hot head and Lincoln who gives a whole new meaning to calm and the action this book is non-stop! It's told from both of their points of view so you get to know them both very well! They really are the definition of opposites attract! All of the books in this series are fast paced with lots of adventures and action! Great read for anyone who loves fantasy books!

A wonderful little interlude into the lives of Lincoln and Myla as they take on the Ringmaster Kell. As usual, despite the obstacles in their path, they are triumphant in the end.
I especially enjoyed the inclusion of full colour pictures throughout the book, bringing certain scenes & characters to life.

Another continuation in dual POV, which is amazing and gives us the perspective of both of our main protagonists.
Lincoln fights in the Viking Games as Myla fights to break the agreement. They're fighting for themselves they are fighting for each other they're fighting for their unborn child all while on their honeymoon and while Myla is suffering through morning sickness among other things.

********** Contain Some Spoilers**********

I enjoyed this book, and I liked the Norse mythology twist. Myla and Lincoln nearly met at the Viking Games when they were 16 and 15 years old. Ringmaster Kell, Ruler of the Purple Salient and Leader of the Viking Games invited Lincoln to watch the games as he wanted Lincoln to be part of them, and Walker brought Myla to the games, but made her leave as soon as he noticed Lincoln in the balcony below. He didn’t want Myla to pay any attention to Lincoln because he posed a threat to her becoming the Scala Heir. Lincoln turned Kell’s offer down as he could tell that magic was involved and he didn’t want to sign his life away to the games. It’s the morning after Myla and Lincoln’s wedding and they’re rudely disturbed by Connor’s loud knocking so goes to answer it so he can find out what Connor wants and then him and Myla are going away to the Royal Honeymoon spot so no one can bother them.

Connor tells Lincoln that him and Octavia and Myla’s parents Camilla and Xavier were visited by Myla’s igni and told about the baby. Connor has signed a deal with Kell for Lincoln, Myla and Maxon to live under the Viking Games Arena as it’ll keep Maxon safe, all Maxon has to do is sign his life away to fight in the games from when he’s 16 years old. All I can say is f*ck Connor. Yes, I can understand that he just wants to protect Maxon from Armageddon since the Viking Games aren’t part of the after-realms so Armageddon get to them, but still. I’m really surprised that Lincoln, Myla and/or her tail didn’t throat punch him, he totally deserved it. Lincoln enters the Vikings Games to save his family, and allow Myla some time to get a golden apple from Idunn’s tree.

Lincoln makes a deal with Kell, to only agree to four fights and if he wins the deal between Kell and Connor is finished. Kell tries to manipulate Lincoln with his magic but Lincoln has magical charms on his side, as well as his best friend Walker, and other Aquillians in the audience. This book doesn’t have as much scene’s where Myla and Lincoln team up, to kick a*se and take names since they both have their own tasks to complete in order to save their son. Myla and Lincoln are going to make amazing parents, as they already love Maxon with everything and want Maxon more freedom than Lincoln had growing up as High Prince of the Thrax and Connor’s son. I’m looking forward to reading Angelfire, and seeing what danger is headed Lincoln and Myla’s way next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

This is a great teen/young adult novel. The language and how it's written is very much made for a younger audience, even with some suggestive marital subject matter. The concept of the story was great, I just wish it was fleshed out a little more and that it didn't jump to the future so quickly (we went from two people not knowing each other at all, to them being married).
