She thought she accidentally slept with her boss...
She didn't know he had a twin brother.

Real talk: I slept with my boss. Back before he even was my boss. Back when I had no clue who he was.

Real talk: My boss is an arrogant jerk. I hate him. If we didn’t work so well together, I would have told him exactly where he could shove his pompous attitude a long time ago.

Turns out…my boss has a twin. Identical twin.

Now I know why he’s always acted like our one night together never happened. Why he acted like he’d never met me before when I started working for him.

It wasn’t him that night. It was his brother.

A brother who’s just as gorgeous as my boss and a hell of a lot nicer.

Real talk: I’m kind of…bothered that it wasn’t my boss that night.

But that’s before certain revelations about that night come to light.

The book has a light tone and an easy relaxed flow with humorous writing. I really liked the writing style here and it was refreshing to read a book for once with next to no grammar or typing errors.

I loved Ryder, his hot and dirty mouth, but also his patience and determination, even if he came across as possessive alpha in the beginning, which is not my favorite type of a hero. But he loved Gretchen fiercely, he spoke her language and they had together really great chemistry.

This is already the third book in the series and from the previous two books I've had the impression that Gretchen, the main character here, is smart, adventurous, outgoing, a badass with a crazy streak, always chill and laidback, so I was really curious what her story would be about... However I was really surprised to find out that in this book she comes across almost clueless, immature and closed off. She's hot and cold, sends mixed signals to Ryder, says one thing but does the very opposite in the next "minute". She's cloaking her discomfort with inappropriate humor, making a joke out of everything, as if refusing to be serious. Even if she tries to be sensible regarding her "relationship" with her boss. But as soon as we get to know her background it's clear why she's acting the way she does...

For me, this book was an interesting journey of self-discovery and I enjoyed every step of it. It was also a success story with love, however cheesy it may sounds...

💋💋

Funny, passionate, steamy and entertaining.
Melanie’s book was very enjoyable to read.

The characters were good, although Gretchen did annoy me a little I also found her amusing.
Ryder was one sexy man, so was his twin Myles.

If I could possibly have one grouch, it would be that I got frustrated with the amount of sarcastic little quips from Gretchen, yes they were funny on the whole but they were never ending and I felt they detracted from the story in some ways.

Obviously this is a personal feeling not everyone will have the same view.
It is a funny read so be ready for a laughs and maybe even a few sad moments.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

The Mix-Up is book # 3 of the Southern Hearts Club and despite jumping in mid-series I was able to follow along and fall instantly in love with all the characters!

𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑛 ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑢𝑝 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑜𝑠𝑠........ 𝑜𝑟 𝑑𝑖𝑑 𝑠ℎ𝑒???

💜The Mix-up is a 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱, 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 about opening yourself up to relationships and the possibility of love. It's such a fun take on the 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 and I adored the unconventional yet entertaining spin of this story.

💜Melanie Munton is a fairly new author to me but oh boy does she have an 𝗮𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗺. Her writing style is full of comical anecdotes and one-liners that are riotous and t-shirt worthy!

💜 I enjoyed the depth and complexity of the female lead Gretchen. She has a commitment phobia that she covers up with witty remarks which I am totally here for! Any character who has a 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘁𝘂𝗯 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝘁 is emotionally unavailable and calls her downstairs Duchess is my kind of gal 👑

💜Ryder is her sexy as sin boss who I wanted to jump multiple times throughout the book because of his emotional honesty and unwavering personality. He knows what he wants and I appreciated how genuine his intentions were. He's isn't some alpha hole but exudes confidence and an aura of masculinity that is both sexy and endearing (swoon).

💜Their love story while sweet was also freaking explosive! The sexual chemistry, especially the pursuit, was deliciously sinful and erotic as hell 🔥

💜One of my favorite things about this book was surprisingly the secondary characters who immediately hooked me and had me craving to know more! For those who don't know me, this includes voraciously stalking the author and gorging myself on her series.

💜And if the book wasn't amazing enough, how cute and flirty is this cover??

I knew I was going to love Gretchen's story because I thought she was a hoot from the moment I met her but I had no idea what a complex character she would turn out to be. If you've read my reviews of Ms. Munton's first 2 books in this series, then you know she was a new author to me but she has quickly become a one-click author. As I said, Gretchen is a complex character and it was intriguing and interesting to come to know all sides of her. Honestly, at times I actually felt bad for Ryder and that's saying something! Ryder was just as fascinating and oh how I fell for him and his sweet and sexy ways -- he is the perfect counterpart to Gretchen's sarcastic and cynical personality. Their chemistry is off the charts! As you can tell from the blurb, there is quite the twist to their story which made their relationship new and refreshing in a whole new way. And I have to mention again that I want to be a part of this group of girls. They are unwavering in their support of each other and nothing stops them from speaking their minds! Another winner from Ms. Munton -- 5 stars all day!

Oh, Ms. Munton you have outdone yourself on this one. I knew Gretchen was going to be fabulous, but I’m totally blown away by her and Ryder’s LOL sexy verbal foreplay and hot, hot, hot panty-melting moments. Gretchen is MY spirit guide, folks!

Gretchen’s tried and true mantra of “distract, deflect, and disengage” has always worked for her, but this whole boss and his twin thing (ya, there are two of them, and boy do they have a doozy of a surprise) has thrown her for a loop. She doesn’t do emotions because she doesn’t know how to deal with them. But her girlfriends are calling her out on it and so is her boss…the extremely desirable and exasperating Ryder Colson. Trying to keep her career separate and not being the brunt of the gossip at the water cooler, she holds him off, but it’s only a matter of time they’ll both get what they want and holy crap, it is worth it!!

What can I say about Ryder? He’s gorgeous, he’s demanding, he’s sexy, and he’s completely committed to winning over the very difficult and beautiful Gretchen come hell or high water. And OMG, the pursuit is incredibly provocative and frickin erotic!! He’s like a dangerous dirty-mouthed possessive panther ready to pounce. I was ready to take her place in a heartbeat. YUM!!!

I have been waiting for Gretchen’s story since The Divorce Attorney and The Six Month Lease which are incredibly delicious and funny on their own with the love stories of her BFFs Sloane and Harper. Why Gretchen, you ask? It’s because of her snarky straight-shooting one-liners, her stellar work ethic, and her self-confidence with men. Hell, I want to be her. In this book, we get to hear Gretchen’s story and why she has an aversion to the feels which goes back to her domineering father, “The Major”, and her mother. Thank God she has her loveable brother, Ross, to help her out when visiting the parents. We also get to see that Gretchen has met her match hand-to-hand, tooth-to-tooth, body-to-body, with Ryder’s unrelenting endurance in the office, in the elevator, and yes, a little peep show in a helicopter.

The scenes are hilarious, emotional, and oh-so-hot!! The characters are audacious and fearless, but also vulnerable and confused. Ya gotta love Ryder’s identical twin, Myles, for giving his all to bring them together. And of course, Gretchen’s BFFs, Sloane, Harper, and Quinn, who keep her honest.

I can’t recommend Gretchen and Ryder’s story enough. The HEA ending is remarkably satisfying, but it’s the chase that drew me in and no one does it better than Ms. Munton. It will give you a new lease on life to buy a bigger bathtub, a rechargeable vibrator, and a soundproof room. I also suggest if you want the full effect of this delightful rom-com series, please read all three. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to see what Quinn is up to.

Thank you again to Ms. Munton for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I've always loved Melanies books, they are always full of passion, steam, and are very entertaining!
The Mix Up also had me laughing! Gretchen was a hoot and I knew I'd love her right away. The chemistry with her and Ryder 🥵....I thought my phone was going to short circuit! 😅

I love how Gretchen is a strong, confident women, focused on her career and won't take sh!t from anyone, including her boss, who happens to be Ryder. Her group of girlfriends and their advice, banter, and sarcasm were perfect.
Ryder is possessive but in the best way possible. He and Gretchen play off of each other perfectly, the fireworks between the two of them....🥵🥵🥵.

If you want a steamy, passionate romance that can also make you laugh and feel like you're just one of the girls too, then this is the book for you!

I would like to thank the Melanie for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Mix-Up is the third book of the Southern Hearts Club series and the first book by this author that I have read. First, I would go back and read the first two books, as they help with the introduction of some of the characters. Second, I loved reading and following Ryder and Gretchen's story from start to finish. I found their sarcastic comments and the chemistry between them entertaining and humorous. I look forward to reading more from this author, and will be taking my own advice and reading the first two books in the series.

This book is full of fire & sass with heavy helpings of steam - and I loved it! Full of witty banter and innuendo-laden verbal volleys, this book sucked me in from page 1 and didn't want to let me go.

"Thou shalt not dwelleth on the nighteth thou debased thyself with thy boss."

Gretchen has always played it safe in matters of the heart. Her story was one I looked forward to because, although she's happy about the lives her friends lead, she's been closed off from situations and emotions that make her feel too deeply. She's seen love around - most of her girlfriends are all cozied up with their own sweethearts - but she doesn't believe it could happen for her. After all, the man she could have sworn she had a connection with, and who gave her the best night of her life doesn't remember her, and in another cruel turn of events, he's her boss. When some more details emerge about that fateful night, things around the office get very heated. Gretchen is catapulted out of her comfort zone, and straight into a scenario she never experienced before, but one that might just change her perspective on everything.

I absolutely loved Gretchen & Ryder's frenemy vibe. It worked in a way I didn't think it would, and created an eagerness in me to see how, when and where they'd take the next step in their relationship. Ryder did well, learning and strategizing his way into Gretchen's heart. Every time he bared a little piece of his soul to her and she'd clam up, I wanted to shake her so bad!

"Somehow, I'm going to find a way to make you mine..."

I loved this book, and can't recommend it enough. I loved Myles' contribution in ensuring that Ryder and Gretchen got together then stayed together. Gretchen's other support system - Quinn, Harper & Sloane - are the type of girlfriends a girl wishes to have. They were there for her, but also called her out when she was being bullheaded. The epilogue is... just wonderful!

I cannot wait for book 4. This series is amazing. Grab it as soon as you can!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

About ten months ago, Gretchen spent a mind-blowing night with a total hottie. Two weeks later, she walked into her new office and realized she slept with her boss.

Or did she?

She finds out her boss has a twin and she never slept with him at all. So why does it bother her that it WASN’T her boss that night?

Enemies to lovers.
Sarcastic verbal foreplay.
Boss and employee.
Business trips.
The steamiest scenes. 🥵🥵

This book has it ALL.

I mean okay, Gretchen is a little emotionally stunted which can be overplayed but damn. It’s worth it because Ryder is sex on a stick and this one was good. I’m still just a little at a loss for words because of how much I liked this one! It’s very well written, and I simply could not put it down. I couldn’t even read on my lunch hour because I was pretty sure I would simply not return to work after!

This is the third book in the Southern Hearts Club. I haven’t read the first two (or actually, any of Melanie Munton’s books) but brb, gonna go fix that!

4/5 with a bonus point for 🔥 = 5/5

Gretchen has an annoying boss. An annoying, HOT boss. An annoying, HOT boss who drives her batty because he doesn't seem to remember the night before he became her boss. The night that was the best of her life. So she takes out all that annoyance with him on him and snarks so badly at him that it's a wonder he hasn't fired her yet for her attitude. Unfortunately for him, he can't fire someone who's so damn good at her job. Someone who is so sexy that he dreams of that night all the time. Someone he wants more than anything in this world. Someone he can't have...

Gretchen and Ryder practically oozed sexual tension beneath all the snark and jabs they threw each others' way. I could just tell there was something huge waiting to happen between them. And when it did? Whew! I loved these two - all the shade they threw, all the snark and wit, so much fun and so damn hot. I can't think of the last office romance I read that made me grin so big. An overbearing bossy boss brought to his knees, a take no crap, sassy employee, a meddling brother, and a whole group of wacky, loyal friends. Yeah, a better combo would be hard to find in a great romance.

Real world problems. Bullshit cookie cutter solutions.

I wanted to like it. My first and biggest issue stopping me came from Ryder. He's Gretchen's boss, with feelings and lusting after her. Ok. Office romance, I'm here for it. He finally makes a move on her, and she unequivocally shuts him down. Hard no. Not interested. And his response is to rub his dick on her and tell her "this is going to happen"

Bro she said no. Just no. I got stuck wondering how everything he was doing afterwards could be seen as anything other than sexual harassment. If it's an outward no, it's a fucking NO.

He is not privy to her internal monologue, where she's flip flopping her feelings. She said no and gave no sign of that changing her mind until she blows him at their Xmas party. In fact she tells him no, and gives him reasons for it. She didn't want to sleep with her boss/have people think that's why she has her job. That's real. But that didn't stop him from touching her, where she again says no. And he keeps going. Saying "I'm hurt you don't think I'd protect you" while shoving a hand up her skirt

I needed Gretchen to do or say something that indicated she was into it, aside from toxic "knowing" her saying no didn't really mean no.

And then there's the crap with Gretchen's family- that gets cliché 'not what it seems' resolution in one miraculous convo. Great. So glad we can magic wand away 30 years of "misunderstandings"

Obviously her and Ryder end up together. The magic wand came out to wave away the fear of Gretchen's sleeping her way up the ladder(her plan was to quit, turn down an amazing job offer in Atlanta and be unemployed so she could date Ryder). But everyone is cool with it. So cool with it, that 10 seconds after realizing they're cool with it, Gretchen uses her now open status as boss's girlfriend to demand he not critique her PowerPoint presentations.

She's afraid people will think she gets special treatment. Realizes they know... and then OPENLY DEMANDS special treatment. Then takes him down with her tongue in the middle of the office. Where everyone claps.

YOU'RE KILLING ME SMALLS.

I'm the kind of person that tends to read one book at a time. I read 4 other books before I managed to get to the end

I can't. I just can't.

Yes there's the identical twin pseudo triangle. It's there but it's not. There are also weird blurbs of some almost relevant relationship podcast. No clue why they were there. I assume it's characters from another book. That or they're there to just take up space. Either way, blech.

Disappointment thy name is Munton.

*I received this book free from Buoni Amici Press.*

Gretchen had a one-night stand, and it was the best night she'd ever experienced, but when she starts a new job and realizes it was her new boss that she had hooked up with...and he doesn't remember her, she gets a little hot under the collar. She could have just quit, but no that's not her style. She wanted the job, it's a job she loves and is amazing at, so instead she just got hostile toward her boss. It became the normal way the interacted.

That all changed the day she walked into her boss's office and discovered he had an identical twin brother. A twin who recognized her almost immediately. Then it hit her like lightning. She didn't sleep with her boss, she'd slept with his twin brother, Myles. You'd think she would have been relieved, but oh no that fleeting emotion was gone before it took hold. I think she was actually upset that it hadn't been her boss, Ryder.

"Sharing is caring, duchess."

Ryder has been entranced by Gretchen since the moment he met her, but according to him he wanted to be the tortoise in the race to her heart. He planned on slowly working his way beneath her skin until she realized he was the man for her. He never realized the secrets behind her hostility, but once he learned he decided to use it to his advantage and win her.

"Somehow, I'm going to find a way to make you mine..."

The Mix-Up has mass amounts of sexual tension, it's littered with humor, and the chemistry between the leading characters is so hot I'm surprised the pages don't catch fire. I absolutely loved the the storyline, especially the little surprises toward the end when secrets are revealed, and the epilogue is almost tissue worthy...if not for the humor that had me literally laughing out loud.

Ooohhhh! You can feel the sexy-angst dripping off of the pages! The witty writing for The Mix-Up had me giggle and laughing out loud.
💜
Gretchen is speechless when she starts a new job and sees her one-night stand from a few weeks previous is her new boss. But he doesn’t seem to remember her... so she plays along ... but is fuming inside about it. Then she finds out he has an identical twin brother ... could it have been him....?
💜
I loved Gretchen’s sarcasm and stubbornness. Everything about Ryder was hot. Only his stubbornness and witty banter can rival Gretchen's. But he has the patience and persistence to play the long game.
This is an office romance (Boss and employee) with an enemies to lovers type vibe.

I adored this book! Though I don’t read a ton of romance anymore, I do on occasion like a good romantic comedy and this was just what I like. The main character Gretchen is a strong confident woman, focused on her career, who doesn’t care what people think, on the outside. I loved all the characters, the group of girlfriends was so good. Their interactions had me laughing out loud, it was great! The banter and sarcasm throughout is exactly my taste. I thought the steam level was just right. There was enough heat and enough sexy scenes written that I didn’t feel like we were skipping the good parts or glossing over the sex, but it also didn’t feel like once the characters started it was every page. I have never read any of the other romances in this series but after reading this I definitely want to pick up the others.

Gretchen is a woman who marches to the beat of her own drum which I loved, but even loved more so was her sarcastic wit since I'm the same way. She hooks up with a hottie before starting a new job, so when she comes in to said new job she can't believe her awful boss is the man she hooked up with, but he's pretending he doesn't know who she is or even remember that night. Her boss, Ryder, really could be a total tool as he had me grinding my teeth more than once, but they are shooting sparks in all directions when interacting. The story did slow way down about middle way through, however, it did pick back up leading to the end so that made me seriously happy. This story is filled with heat, witty banter, hilarious interactions, and several amazing secondaries, so now it's your turn to experience it for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to review this copy for my honest opinion.

First off, I absolutely loved this one. One of my favorite romance reads is office romances especially when it's boss-employee ones. And this one did not disappoint. It was steamy and just what I needed. From the second I started reading this one I loved Gretchen! And oh boy Ryder he is the definition of hot. What girl doesn't love a man in a suit? I couldn't get through this book fast enough. While this was a quick read it was everything and more I could have asked for, you have the sexual tension building for a year, drama, then the denial then they give in. I was hooked and I want more of these two.

So if you have been keep up with these world of characters, you know Gretchen's story is going to be a doozy!
She's so fiesty and takes no one's attitude but her bosses. Which is good and bad.
Ryder Colson is the big boss. His is also one possessive... Well you get the point. It's so very flipping hottttt.
The chemistry is explosion of fireworks but it's the characters that do it for me. I absolutely adore them. The girls are stronger than ever!!!

Lighter/tamer than some of Melanie’s other series like Brooklyn Brothers. Found myself laughing out loud a few times. Loved what Gretchen discovers about her family toward the end.

In the first two books Gretchen suggests various names for the group of friends—I’m still waiting for them to suggest and adopt Southern Hearts Club to tie in with the series name.

Fun, quick read and looking forward to Quinn’s story in book #4!

I liked the banter between the heroine and the hero in the beginning but it quickly turned in to a possessive, sexual game between them. Ryan gets aggressively dominant and acts so inappropriate for a person in power. I didn't feel comfortable reading the rest. That type of storyline does not appeal to me.

I picked this one up since I read the previous book in the series and loved it. Honestly though the main character of Gretchen wasn’t a pleasant character nor did I understand her motivations behind her actions. I thought Ryder at times was immature and brutish. They did work well as a couple and I liked the ending. Overall, it was an okay book. Even though this book wasn’t a great fit for me I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Melanie Munton for gifting me ana advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
A workplace romance with a twist, The Mix-up is steamy, witty and a fun read! I finished this one quick, the writing easy to read and the characters likeable (for the most part). If you like Alpha men, lots of steamy, behind-closed-doors scenes and office romances, this one's for you!
.
After a passionate night in bed with a stranger, the last thing Gretchen expects is for him to be her new boss. And when he acts like they’ve never even met before, she’s furious. When she learns that her boss has an identical twin brother, a much nicer twin, things start making sense... Until she realizes she actually wishes that night had been with her boss.
.
At first I was really into this book but it went from 0-60 in about ten pages and I never completely got back on track. I’m not a huge fan of Insta-love (though one could argue that this is not an instant love situation, even the main character points out the emotional whiplash. I’m also really not a fan of alpha males. I don’t mind confident, strong male leads, of course, but there were a few over-the-top moments for me!
.
I considered not posting a review for this book because I didn’t love it, but I know there are plenty of readers who LOVE a good office romance with an alpha male lead!

It's the first book I've read by Melanie Munton and it leaves me looking for more about her work.
.
Her characters are so great. I actually fell in love with Gretchen, a leading women with her own perks and tastes, someone who smokes marijuana while having a glass of wine in her Greek bathtub to make up for a bad day, a Workaholic that loves her job, someone who can speak frankly with her friends without embellishing any words. I love good characters that leave you hooked on pages only to see their next reaction.
.
And the plot is great, Gretchen has been hating her boss for months, for not remembering their night stand, weeks before they started working together, only to discover that she did not sleep with him but with her twin brother.
.
I enjoyed very much this steamy RomCom and its characters that give it the perfect balance of humor and sweetness so that the story does not lose its axis and important issues goes worked
.
Thank to Melanie Munton and Netgalley for give me this great book in exchange for my honest review

After Gretchen spends an unforgettable night with a sexy stranger, she was surprised to find out that he is her new boss even if he refuses to acknowledge it. She is focused on her career and determined to excel at her job but her feisty personality makes her opinion clear what she thinks of him and his actions.

Ryder isn’t sure what he has done to upset Gretchen until he realizes a misunderstanding with his twin is the cause. He has feelings for her however until this point he had been willing to be patient but this becomes a game changer and that is when the hijinks really begins.

Gretchen has met her match when it comes to Ryder’s determination and charm. The interactions between them are humorous and hot and there is a great cast of secondary characters that enhance the story.
