Description of Job

THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT COLORADO RESIDENTS.
This posting will be active until the posted closing date and time or until there are 50 applicants, whichever comes first.
  • The Library Application Specialist performs as the manager of the Innovative Interfaces ILS to insure accurate information in and function of the system.
  • Utilizes logic and independent judgment to make decisions concerning data integrity, evaluating and replicating trouble reports, tracking problems, preparing trouble reports for the online system vendor, and testing fixes reported by the vendor.
  • Based on in-depth knowledge of library theories and principles and the parameters of the ILS, coordinates issue reporting with campus IT and other library departments.
  • Independently develops workflows by monitoring software updates and publications by the system vendor and then shares those changes with the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides consultation and recommendations for upgrades to the ILS and coordinates that process.
  • Serves as a trainer to new personnel on the functions and operations of modules within the ILS and other software applications.
  • Provides ongoing training and support to existing personnel as problems arise during day-to-day operations or new functionality in the ILS or other software is made available.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and monitors the download and export of data files to and from the online integrated library system and other entities that supply bibliographic data to the library.
  • Provides leadership in the acquisition and utilization of new library-related software applications investigates and analyzes new or additional ILS modules and innovative software applications, such as streaming electronic media software, by guiding a group of other personnel to test, evaluate, and recommend software applications.
  • Performs as the manager of an Islandora/Fedora stack by insuring functionality of the software application.
  • Uses computational logic and independent judgment to provide statistical data for reporting to UNC, state, and national organizations by defining parameters and gathering appropriate data from library systems as well as consulting department managers.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.

Two years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. 

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. 

APPEAL RIGHTS:
