Thomas “Tom” Aiken Wall, Jr., age 85, of Mauldin, SC, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at home. Tom is survived by loving wife of 21 years Tami Wall; stepdaughter Casey Robinson (Joshua Kirby); stepson Cody (Julie) Robinson; grandchildren Enaiah, Kahdao, Jamyson, Adalyn, and Asher; brother Victor (Linda) Wall; son Thomas “Buck” (Pam) Wall III; grandchildren Conner and Adam; and daughter Mary Anne Wall. Tom was preceded in death by parents Thomas and Kathleen Wall, Sr.; late wife of 39 years Mary Frances Wall; sister Mary (Larry) Loftis; and brother William “Bill” Wall. Tom served as an officer in the Army after graduating from Furman University. After the Army he oversaw academics and discipline for the boys of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home for seven years. Tom attended Southeastern Baptist Seminary and served as a minister in North Carolina. Tom’s love for the Paladins led him to return to Furman University where he led the baseball team as head coach for 22 years. During this time he led his team to win 3 conference championships. He also served as Academic Advisor. During this time Tom pursued and attained his Master’s Degree in Education. After retiring from Furman he continued to lead baseball camps for several more years. As his “retirement”, Tom served as Sexton and Security at Trinity Presbyterian Church for 18 years. Over Tom’s lifetime he was always involved in church ministry, including leading Bible studies, becoming a trained Stephen Minister, and was an ordained Presbyterian Elder and Deacon and Head of the Diaconate. Amazingly in his later years he added to his church service by mentoring youth and serving in the children’s ministry. Tom was a faithful member of John Knox Presbyterian Church at the time of his death and loved his church family. Tom was devoted to his family and enjoyed the last 21 years with his wonderful wife Tami as well as being a great parent and grandparent, dearly loved by his family. Services will be held on January 22 at John Knox Pres. Greenville at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to John Knox Kindergarten and PDO or the ALS Association.
