We gave our entry an extreme makeover with new walls (oh yesssss, we did!), serene wallpaper, refinished floors and a vintage window. To decorate for the holidays, I layered festive things upon this antique French console. Come on in!

Hello Lovely’s Holiday Entry
I popped faux greenery into a glass vase with gold bulbs, then added a plaid charger along with vintage brass deer and candlesticks. Here’s a video, and crank up the volume, I’m a Belieber up in here!
Sure hope you aren’t expecting lush evergreens cascading down the staircase! Maybe next year…girlfriend is just happy the dust has cleared!
The Lenox holiday bowl is one I received as a wedding gift years ago. I filled it with little gold bells, and it’s also the perfect size for red and green Christmas M&Ms.
Dining Room Side of Entry
We added a wall on the dining room side of the entry as well – this space required a ton of work!
A built-in china cabinet was removed from the dining room (we repurposed it in the kitchen pantry), and we added a gas fireplace in its place
We use the dining room as a music room. In fact, we added the walls since furniture arrangement was impossible without them!
Living Room Side of Entry
The living room (more of a sitting room) is beyond this little working window.
I have more decorating to do, but YAY, the Christmas tree is standing!
Quiet Holiday Decor in the Dining Room
Nothing fussy, complicated or colorful in the dining room. Whimsical felt garland on the mantel, tissue poufs on the floor, and the piano layered with a few vintage things.
But wait. Why isn’t the table set with beautiful holiday china? We have yet to eat in here so I didn’t wanna fake it. While I’m a better vocalist than pianist, I write music and play here everyday.
The mural wallpaper plays a starring role in the entry and above the fireplace. This particular product from Photowall is super easy to install (you paint the wall with paste rather than the paper) and not expensive so I highly recommend it. FIND IT HERE.
I painted the handrail and front doors Sherwin-Williams Carbonized.
The old marble topped console from France is a FB Marketplace find…score!
I recently hung these sconces I have owned forever in the entry. The wiring is there, but I like them with real candles.
The wall color is Sherwin-Williams Repose Gray.
My table below is a $25 find we simply sanded down for a clean, scrubbed look that works well with the Louis style chairs.
When we bought the house, the floors had a dark cherry stain. They are oak, and after sanding and distressing them, we stained them gray for a blonde, European Country look.
While I love making tissue poufs, this year I saved time and ordered them.
Worth every penny since time is precious!

Awwww, thanks, Mary Ann. We’re getting there, and it is much cozier in person I think than photos which can look so austere and strangely vacant. I have been pounding the keys on this piano since I was a preschooler so it’s a time machine and has brought so much wellth to my life. I am in love with what you’ve accomplished! New walls AND the cutest window ever?! How exciting to be able to say y’all did that on your own. And those sconces are adorable. I can see why you love them so much. Have fun decorating the rest of your beautiful home. BTW, I’m totally impressed that you write music and play the piano. I took piano for 3 miserable years when I was young. When I finally talked them into letting me quit, I was thrilled. Now I wish they would have made me continue – even though I probably would have made their life miserable. 😉

Awww thank you so much. It is gratifying to take ownership, and no one will ever know the hours. We keep saying we are too old for it all, and we are, but we are learning you can do things little by little and it still gets done. I took piano lessons for like 2 weeks, and the teacher scared the pants off me so I refused to go back! Hahahaha. It’s never too late to learn a few chords or renovate a whole house. Hahahaha. My mom plays beautifully without ever taking lessons so it’s genetic. 🙂

Thank you, Lisa! Thanks so much for touring. We have never renovated a Georgian like this with features you can’t mess around with (like an imposing staircase just inside the front doors). It has been a humbling experience as DIYers who work full time and are not in their 30s anymore. 🙂 What I am learning is with a closed floorplan, rooms can have their own identity. Flooring can change, wall colors, and even mood. 🙂 Will I get sick of it? We’ll see! Hahahaha

Thanks, Juliet! You have such wonderful style so I’m flattered. I know the wallpaper makes a strong statement but we decided we probably wouldn’t tire of it since it’s a pass through area. But if we do? A new pattern! Hahahaha. We are getting there, room by room with this reno, and I’m just so happy to finally be working on our bedroom.

Michele, it is all so absolutely beautiful! So many stunning details and gorgeous design. That window is adorable. Your hard work has paid off well. Also, I love your piano. I sold mine 34 years ago when I got married because I was sick of paying to have it moved over and over. And then we ended up not moving for 30 years! One of these days I’ll get another.

Thanks so much, Pam. The good news about a piano is that everyone is getting rid of them on Marketplace so you’ll snag it for free if you can haul it away. We have moved mine so many times, and it falls apart a little with each new house – I think it may have found its final resting spot though. 🙂
Yes! I have seen some free pianos lately! I just need to make the decision to go get one. I really miss playing the piano. We have a little keyboard, but it’s not the same. Hope you find a great one. I actually hunted one down when we had the Arizona property for a couple of years and I couldn’t bear the thought of not playing daily. I ended up loving it so much that we sold the property as an estate but not that piano! It moved into my parents’ house so I can play when I visit them.
