21st Century Mouse Genetics

In this 5 day intensive course, our esteemed JAX faculty will present topics that go beyond the basics of mouse genetics including:

• modern approaches to genetic screens
• creation of transgenics and precision genetic modification
• computational data analysis and management
• innovative genetic tools for in vivo manipulation
• use of the mouse in translational biomedical research

Participants will practice using learned content and skills during afternoon workshops.  

The week will culminate in the crafting of a NIH-style Specific Aims page, integrating course materials into the participant's research project.  Participants will be guided throughout the week in the creation of such a document.  Specific Aims pages will be distributed to course faculty and returned to participants after the course with constructive feedback from the experts.

This course is intended for graduate students that have completed basic genetics coursework requirements and are looking for further instruction in modern mouse genetics. Postdocs and junior faculty transitioning to using mouse models are also encouraged to attend.
