National Border Patrol Council endorses Claire McCaskill for U.S. Senate

National Border Patrol Council

As the union representing 15,000 Border Patrol agents at both our Northern and Southern borders, the National Border Patrol Council is proud to endorse Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill in her campaign for re-election to the U.S. Senate. In 2018, we endorsed Donald Trump for president because he was tough on borders and strong on enforcement. We’re endorsing Claire McCaskill now for the exact same reasons.

Senator McCaskill has risen above the partisanship of Washington to genuinely listen to the concerns of Border Patrol agents and to fight for the increase in resources and staff needed at the border. Our agents put their lives on the line every day to keep this nation secure, and we need lawmakers like Senator McCaskill who will work across party lines to provide the support we need to do our jobs effectively.

As the ranking member of the powerful Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator McCaskill has met with agents on the southern border and taken their concerns back to Washington. She worked on a bipartisan deal for $25 billion in increased border security and co-sponsored legislation for $600 million in additional security funding. She personally introduced an amendment to allow the hiring of 1,000 more Border Patrol agents and pushed for new technology to enhance surveillance and detection. She took action when agents explained they were working with faulty equipment on a daily basis.

Whether a state shares a foreign border or not, all Americans must be concerned about border security and the safety of America’s citizens. No state is spared the consequences and costs of illegal immigration. Senator McCaskill understands law enforcement and she knows the unique challenges Border Patrol agents face every day as they work to keep Americans safe.

Sen. Claire McCaskill

We need elected officials in Washington who will work with both parties to strengthen our borders. We need lawmakers like Senator McCaskill who don’t just talk about being tough on borders but actually do something about it. Senator McCaskill has fought for border security and comprehensive immigration solutions to keep our great country safe. We trust her judgment and commitment — that is why she has more than earned our endorsement.
