Swiss Airlines Has Launched Fondue Flights This Winter

The fondue flights will be available on flight departing Geneva, to Malaga, Athens, Stockholm, Moscow, Gothenburg, Hurghada, Lisbon, St Petersburg and Marrakesh.

As part of its in-flight menu relaunch, Swiss International Air Lines is offering one of Switzerland's most iconic foods to passengers flying out of Geneva this winter: cheese fondue.

The carrier is bringing what could be considered one of the most flight un-friendly foods in Switzerland's repertoire -- small tray tables, hot gooey cheese, dipping -- to their in-flight offerings for European flights departing Geneva.

The fondue is made following the traditional recipe -- half Vacherin Fribourg, half Gruyère cheese -- and is served with bread, dried meats, cured ham and salami.

Other traditional Swiss foods on the menu include hot chocolate made with Swiss chocolate and pain au lait.

SWISS isn't the only airline to up the ante in in-flight fare. This past fall, Lufthansa commissioned and developed a special "airworthy" beer keg to be available during Oktoberfest for international flights departing Munich.

The fondue flights will be available on flight departing Geneva, to Malaga, Athens, Stockholm, Moscow, Gothenburg, Hurghada, Lisbon, St Petersburg and Marrakesh.
