September 9 Tower of Voices Dedication

The National Park Service, along with the Families of Flight 93, Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial, and the National Park Foundation, will host a dedication ceremony for the Tower of Voices at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2018. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will be held rain or shine. Dress warmly for the weather and bring rain gear. In the event of severe weather, elements of the program are subject to change or cancellation. Updates will be posted on this website and the park’s social media accounts.

Event Details

Ceremony Location
The dedication will take place outdoors, in the field adjacent to the Tower of Voices; please dress accordingly and wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven surfaces. No large bags or backpacks will be allowed in the ceremony area or in the Visitor Center. There will be no parking available on-site, so plan ahead to park remotely and catch a shuttle.

Directions
Arrive via the main entrance on US Route 30, use 6424 Lincoln Highway, Stoystown, PA 15563. View driving directions and the park map.

Parking and Shuttles
Signs and staff will direct visitors to parking areas. All visitors will shuttle to and from the event from designated parking lots. Accessible buses are available to accommodate wheelchairs. Please arrive with plenty of time to park, shuttle, and walk out to the ceremony site. Shuttles will run between the visitor center, overflow lots, and the Tower of Voices site from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. See here for a map of parking and shuttle locations. Please note that parking will not be available at the Tower of Voices on September 9, and parking is limited at the Western Overlook.

Attire
This event will take place rain or shine. The ceremony will take place in a small field and requires walking on mown grass, please wear appropriate footwear. In case of extreme weather conditions, updates will be posted on this website and the park’s social media accounts. There will be no seating provided for the public for this event.

Restrooms
There are no restroom facilities at the event site. Portable bathrooms will be provided. The ceremony will last approximately one hour, and shuttle service will resume immediately following the dedication.

Accessibility
The memorial is an outdoor location and a visit will involve walking. Accessible shuttle buses are available to accommodate wheelchairs for the special events. Accessible areas will be provided for individuals in wheelchairs. Seating will not be provided for the public.

Webcam
You can watch the Tower of Voices construction project via the Friends of Flight 93 Memorial website. You will also be able to watch the ceremony via webcam on September 9. Further details will be announced soon.


Tributes
Small tributes may be left in the niche along the Memorial Plaza and at the wall of names. Large tributes will not be permitted. A wreath laying must be arranged in advance.

The Seventeenth Anniversary Observance will be held at the Visitor Center. The open air service will include brief remarks, special music, reading of the names of the forty passengers and crew members of Flight 93, ringing of the Bells of Remembrance and a wreath laying at the Wall of Names.
