____________________________________________________________________________

It is with heavy hearts we share with you the passing of our youngest brother Timothy Sean O’Grady. Tim is in a better place today, after battling alcoholism for much of his adult life. Known for his storytelling, passion for politics, sharp-wit, love of history, his proud Irish and Cajun heritage and one of the best belly laughs you will ever witness. Tim was a talented and passionate family law attorney, specializing in father’s rights, for the majority of his career. He leaves behind 2x beautiful children, his daughter Fiona (14) and son Declan (11), whom he loved endlessly. For those of you who have a family member who suffers from alcoholism, you know the pain and destruction this disease creates. My parents, brothers, Tim’s ex-wife Jill and his children have endured pain and suffering for years, not knowing when this inevitable day would come. It wasn’t if this day would come, but when. Tim fought this unforgiving and horrible disease for most of his adult life. It stole our brother. It kidnapped him and held him hostage. You just can’t negotiate with this illness, no matter how many attempts he tried. Life is not defined by how you leave this world, but rather how you lived it. Tim was a treasure to anyone who came in contact with him. You never forgot meeting Tim O’Grady for the first time. My parents were relentless in this fight. They never gave up hope. They knew he was still drinking after stints in rehab. They told him we do not approve of your actions, but we will never stop loving you. That is a parent’s love. That is so powerful. That is a blanket of love Tim took with him, when he left this world. Tim is in a better place; free of his suffering. Tim is in heaven now, blanketed with God’s love. Tim, we will always love you, and never ever forget you. Love your family.
