Post-Retirement Veterinarian Program

Make A Difference On Your Terms

Are you a retired veterinarian who still loves what you did?  Would you like to use your skills to help pets, get paid and do it on YOUR terms?  Second Chance Animal Services needs you!

Second Chance is nationally known for our Access to Care program that provides vital services to ensure all pets in need of veterinary care can get help, regardless of the financial status of the owner.

We provide routine and sick exams, surgery, low cost spay/neuter, dentals, vaccine clinics and more.  All of these services require veterinarians.  As a retired veterinarian, you have a wealth of experience and have dedicated your life to helping pets.  Perhaps you miss the satisfaction of helping these pets, but you’re not looking for the commitment of running a practice or maintaining a busy schedule.

Here’s how our program works:

  1. Tell us what you still like to do and how often you would want to do it.  For example, maybe you’re interested in vaccine clinics, and you only want to work one day a week.  Do you need the summer off, go South in the winter, or have other plans that would take you away for periods of time?  You can still help pets with Second Chance and keep that retirement schedule!
  2. Decide which one, or more, of our hospital locations you want to work at?  For some things, like vaccine clinics, would you want to work on our mobile unit too?
  3. If you are interested in surgery, what types of surgeries do you have experience in that you would still like to do?

Once you have answered those questions, let’s talk!  We’d love to tell you more about our programs and services and discuss how you could work with our organization and continue helping pets in need.  You can choose to volunteer or get paid.  We want to help you share your wealth of experience to help pets and make a difference.

Please email Sheryl.blancato@secondchanceanimals.org and let her know how you would like to help.
