This is Dr. Yvonne Hunter-Johnson, Assistant Professor, in Workforce Education and Development Program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I am conducting a study titled “Learning Preference and Career Transition of Veterans/Military Students”. The purpose of this study is three fold:  First to determine the level of self-directed readiness of veterans/military students enrolled in higher education.  Second, to determine the level of self-directed learning readiness as it relates to transitioning into a second career after the military. Third to determine if there is a correlation between their level of self-directed learning readiness and their ability to transition to another career after the military.

You will be asked to complete the Career Transition Inventory, including 40 questions on a six-point scale, and the Learning Preference Assessment, including 58 items on a five-point scale, as well as a demographic survey. The survey will take you approximately 25 minutes.

All reports written by the researcher concerning this study will be written to ensure the anonymity of the participants. No one will be identified by name in any reports and the researcher will take all reasonable measures to protect each participant’s identity. You are free to withdraw from this study at any time with no penalty.
