Study Description: Thank you for taking our survey. The Archival Educators Section (AES) Steering Committee, are seeking to learn more about adjunct faculty in the archival profession. The purpose of our project is to analyze the duties, obligations, and experiences that adjuncts have while teaching archival courses. We hope to further a conversation about the role of adjuncts and their value in higher education.

The outcomes will be reported at the AES meeting in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, August 15 from 2:30-3:45 PM. The steering committee may also publish the report to inform the archival community of the findings of the survey.

The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The confidentiality of all participant data will be maintained. Any information that may identify a participant will be removed prior to the data analysis process.

Risks / Benefits: Risks to participants are considered minimal. Collection of data and survey responses using the internet involves the same risks that a person would encounter in everyday use of the internet, such as breach of confidentiality. While the researcher has taken every reasonable step to protect your confidentiality, there is always the possibility of interception or hacking of the data by third parties that is not under the control of the researcher.

There will be no costs or direct payment for participating.

The final questions ask if you are willing to provide your name and contact information for follow-up purposes. Providing this information is completely optional and any information provided will not be connected to your responses.

Data will be retained on the Survey Monkey website server for 1 year beyond the time of the close of the survey. However, data may exist on backups or server logs beyond the time frame of this research project. Data transferred from the survey site will be saved in an encrypted format for 3 years.

This survey is being provided via the Survey Monkey account of the office of the Society of American Archivist (SAA). Thus, select administrators within SAA and the collaborators have access to the data collected by this study. However, the Institutional Review Board at UWM or appropriate federal agencies like the Office for Human Research Protections may review this study’s records.

The collaborators will remove your identifying information after downloading the data and all study results will be reported without identifying information so that no one viewing the results will ever be able to match you with your responses.

Voluntary Participation: Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may choose to not answer any of the questions or withdraw from this study at any time without penalty. Your decision will not change any present or future relationship with the Society of American Archivists
