In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Garrett Ilg, president of Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific, said the company is in talks with a "number of Chinese companies" with "global ambitions."

He said these companies are considering using Oracle's cloud infrastructure to expand operations outside China, Akito Tanaka reported for Nikkei Asia on Nov. 14, 2022.

ByteDance’s decision came amid pressure exerted by the US to stop transmitting US data to China on suspicion that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) can hijack the data.
