Should the Gold Line bus route include a two-mile loop through downtown St. Paul?
The Metropolitan Council wants to hear from the public about a change in the proposed route of the bus rapid transit line.
The original plans called for buses running through Woodbury, Oakdale and Maplewood and ending at Union Depot in St. Paul. But a new idea would extend the route beyond Union Depot, taking Sixth Street to Smith Avenue. The buses would then return to Union Depot along Fifth Street.
The addition would add six stations and $10 million to the cost of the project.
Two open houses to gather opinions have been scheduled for Oct. 9 in downtown St. Paul:
- 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on the skyway level of the Alliance Bank Building, 55 E. Fifth St..
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Union Depot, 214 E. Fourth St.
