This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), National Programs, International Research Programs, located in Washington, DC.
The Office of International Research Program’s (OIRP) mission is to enhance the productivity, effectiveness and impact of the ARS National Programs through mutually beneficial international research and development collaboration in agriculture and natural resources. OIRP is responsible for coordinating and administering ARS’ participation in worldwide agriculture research and development assistance programs undertaken on behalf of and in conjunction with less developed nations. OIRP collaborates closely with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a Federal agency responsible for administering and implementing the U.S. foreign assistance program. This collaborative arrangement assures continuity between USDA policy and U.S. foreign policy in agriculture. OIRP provides technical expertise to USAID program development and implementation and assures these programs are consistent with USDA policy.
The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership in designing, procuring, and managing research programs aimed at generating and disseminating evidence that will increase knowledge and understanding of how human nutrition can be improved through implementation of food-based interventions in the agriculture sector in Feed the Future countries.

Qualifying experience for GS-14 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-13 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience serving as an advisor in support of a food-based or agricultural research program focused on improving human nutrition in developing countries; identifying and pursuing opportunities to conduct nutrition research; and coordinating and collaborating with organizations and personnel in order to plan and implement agricultural and nutrition projects.
