Starbucks releases new drink, the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte, for winter

Starbucks is welcoming a new drink to its winter lineup.

The coffee giant announced Tuesday that the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte is now available for a limited time.

The drink, which can be ordered hot, iced or as a Frappuccino blended beverage, features espresso combined with notes of brown butter and vanilla, and topped with cinnamon and nutmeg. 

On the food side, Starbucks announced three additions to its permanent menu: Ham, Cheddar and Peppers Sous Vide Egg Bites, the Ham & Swiss Panini and a Morning Bun with an updated recipe. A new Red Velvet Loaf Cake will be available for a limited time.

Starbucks also announced Tuesday a new item hitting grocery stores in January – Iced Espresso Almondmilk in Caffé Latte and Caffé Mocha flavors.

More winter drinks

Starbucks isn't the only coffee chain announcing a move away from holiday drinks and into winter beverages.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: The chain announced Tuesday its winter drinks would be available through March 12. The chain's new drinks are the Rose Hazelnut Latte and Houjicha Hazelnut Tea Latte.

Peet's Coffee: On Wednesday, Peet's Coffee is releasing two new winter beverages – Golden Cold Brew Fog and Golden Matcha Latte – to join the returning Golden Caffè Latte. The three drinks featuring turmeric, ginger and honey will be available through May 21 at participating locations.

Dunkin': The coffee and doughnut chain announced Tuesday it was introducing four Dunkin’-inspired Yoplait Yogurt flavors including a French Vanilla Latte flavor along with Boston Kreme Donut and Apple Fritter. Also through March 3, get a medium-sized Dunkin’ latte or cappuccino, hot or iced, for $2 from 2 to 6 p.m. at participating locations.

7-Eleven: Friday is 7-Eleven's half-birthday and America's largest convenience store chain is celebrating by giving away free small cups of coffee. This freebie is only for members of the 7Rewards members, who will get a coupon on the 7-Eleven smartphone app.

Wawa: Through Feb. 3, get any cup of hot coffee for $1 including Kenya AA Reserve coffee, which is available for a limited time. This offer is for self-serve coffee.
